There really isn't a much worse human trait than being a liar. You read their material all too often. For whatever reason they feel the need to tell outright lies to make their point. This thread is to expose those liars as someone you probably shouldn't put too much stock into what they say in the future.

I'll open the thread with socaljim242

This one was a real doozy.

When rattling off a plethora of excuses to another poster (for whatever reason) for USC's narrow 45-42 win over an interim coached Nebraska in the 2014 Holiday Bowl, he made the statement that USC's "NFL bound seniors didn't play" on defense.

I didn't recall anything of the sort, so I looked it up.

USC's defensive players taken in the 2015 NFL Draft.

Hayes Pullard, (Senior) ILB, Browns
Josh Shaw, (Senior) CB, Bengals
Leonard Williams, (Junior) DE, Jets
J.R. Tavai (Senior), OLB, undrafted

USC hangs on to beat Nebraska, 45-42, in the Holiday Bowl - LA Times

As you can see ALL 4 NFL bound defenders (3 Sr's, 1 Jr) played in the game, making socaljim's excuse laden rant an outright lie. I did give him ample opportunity to correct said lie. However he refused.

:L:L:L:L

Well, I'm sorry to say you've made this thread for nothing. Even after all this, in a week he will make the same claims again. He gets corrected on things often and it doesn't actually matter.

Liars are certainly filth. Couple lying with thieving, however, and that level of filthiness grows exponentially. For example, take my ex-wife ... really, take her!

That's my ex. :L

Probably why I despise liars so much.

FWIW SC was playing with a smaller roster due to sanctions

USC still had about 115 players. Nebraska had about 130.

However, I doubt either team played more than 60 each at most. Nebraska also had an interim head coach.

Here are the rosters for the Holiday Bowl.

What we do know is that USC holding out it's NFL talent was a massive lie.

USC was docked 30 scholarships (total) over 3 years.

Even so, USC had better recruiting classes than Nebraska.

Per Scout.com Team Rankings

2014

#10 USC (26 players)
#36 Nebr (25 players)

2013

#13 USC (12 players)
#22 Nebr (26 players)

2012

#9 USC (17 players)
#30 Nebr (17 players)

2011

#3 USC (29 players)
#16 Nebr (21 players)

4 Year Totals

USC - 84
Nebr - 89

I'm not sure how USC got past the sanctions, but it looks like they only took a hit in 2013. :noidea:

There's no place for facts in this thread  USC had to field NFL bound midgets in defense to comply with the NCAA sanctions :dhd:

In other big news, Jimbo Fisher has banned all FSU players from bars! I suggest he makes them attend church and take a vow of celibacy.

Your coach should be fired and your school should be downgraded by the NCAA. - nddulac.

I give USC credit for being able to manipulate their way through the sanctions and still sign quality classes.

I'm guessing location had a lot to do with it. I don't think their fallback had as much to do with a lack of players as it did with poor coaching. That example can be made with other teams. Texas, Florida, Michigan, Nebraska etc..

So to clarify: Nebraska actually WON that game??? Is that the main takeaway here?

No. LOL

USC won 45-42

Help me out here, HIE.

What am I missing where USC somehow had a depleted roster for that game when it's stated the sanctions had depleted them so?

They signed 5 less players over a 4 year period. Is my math wrong?
