Even though the O's need help (starting pitching) and a big bat (to protect Davis) I have a hunch it won't happen and this is why...
Hypothetically interviewing Showalter:
Q: So Buck, your team is in the pennant race all though buried in 3rd place behind Boston and Tampa, what can the organization do to help improve this team to make a late run at the division?
A: What can we do? We do nothing! My ship is sinking with MY guys and that's that. You wanna look these men in the face everyday and tell them they are not gett'n it done? Heck no, I may be the only one that believes in this ball club and the current roster as it stands. What's not to like about this team? Let's go through the lineup and you tell me what needs improvement.
Let's see...
1. We have 3 gold glove OF's who are playing their butts off. Collectively, likely the best trio in the AL East if not all of baseball.
2. We have a soon to be gold glove 3B redefining what it means to play 3B in this league. He leads the league in doubles. You want to replace him?
3. Our shortstop is not flashy but he is a gold glover none the less and an All Star. He can hit you 20+ HR's every season. You want to upgrade there?
4. Our 2B is coming off injury but it was not long ago he was the face of the franchise. Not a better club house guy or teammate in the business. You want to rid him too?
5. Our 1B is putting up record numbers in an Oriole uniform. Numbers like Eddie Murray never put up in one season. Numbers in one half guys would like for a season. Another All Star. Should we get rid of him too?
6. Our catcher only throws out majority of base stealers and defensively, none better! Enough said!
7. Our pitching staff while not very consistant early on is putting up solid back to back starts. Chen coming off the DL has looked great, Miggy is our steady Eddy, Tillman, an All Star, Feldman is settling in with his new team and pitching well while Hammel needs to regain form. I'll keep my five and a bullpen with two 95MPH guns in Hunter & Guasman, along with O'Day whom teams can't figure out, Matuz and JJ, who has more saves than any closer through last year up to this point.
This is my team and I'm sticking with these guys even if you guys don't believe in 'em!

hunter and palmer was talking about ben . a guy was getting everyone he met to sign a ball and ben signed the sweet spot which in reserved for a hof like palmer .
