Parity has nothing to do with quality. A conference could finish with everyone being 6-6 and although the parity is outstanding, the quality probably sucks.

Can't be worse than last year.

Washington and Ohio State weren't competitive. They had 7 points and 409 yards combined.

*On top of that, everyone knew Alabama and Clemson would win their games. I think semis this year will be very competitive.

Whether or not they put in OSU over Bama, you still have the same situation. There might be some solid play in this playoff, and maybe there will be blowouts.

This wasn't the year of 3-4 dominating teams we thought we might have. There are no teams without flaws and warts. There is no clearly superior team with everyone else miles behind either. That doesn't mean the expected team won't win it, but it doesn't feel like there's a slam dunk out there.

I could see how you would feel that way. I would too if the number of teams that scored 40 on my team in a decade was in double digits...instead of 1.

The point was a 'true' college football fan is going to watch the playoffs whether their team, or a team they care about, is in it or not. More casual fans or fans that only care about their team certainly might not watch either or care about the outcome.
