I cant speak to the new ones, but I drove a '98 Tacoma for 12 years, had 170,000 miles on it when I sold her...in those twelve years, only went to the shop once for any problems. Great truck

I like the options you can get with them or maybe the set up not sure how to word it. But I would not need 4x4 or a double cab. This would afford me a larger bed area. And as I said the one I drove rode damn near like a car.

Why own or drive half a truck? Either buy a full size or just get an SUV.

Do you pay for your gas or just pump it out of a magical well in your backyard?

I work for General Motors, so I'm bias, I wouldn't buy a truck built by a car company.

Well, considering I have owned many Sierra's, a Yukon, etc.. and now I drive a Tundra Limited (and it is a 2010 so I have had it for over 3 years)...

I would buy a Toyota every time until GM gets their act together. I had so many small problems (and some big) with the GM products... Toyota haven't had one. Plus the dealer treats me like gold where the GM dealers were shit for the most part.

I was all about buy American most of my life.. but quality fell so quickly in the late 80's and 90's it will be hard for them to ever recover.

That is the one downside.. my 4x4 Tundra gets 11.5-12.5 average just running around town.

Thankfully my company gives me a gas card that pays for 100% of the gas... otherwise it would be more painful. But they also paid for the truck as well so why would I complain.

I wonder what the tow capacity is on this or the highlander. Wonder if either could tow a Pop Up camper.

I gladly pay for my own fuel in my truck which is a 2012 Dodge Ram 1500 Mega Cab with a 6 inch lift kit and 35 inch Nitto tires on it. The truck has a 32 gallon tank as well. I get about 17 MPG on the highway and 13MPG in the city. I drive a company vehicle for work. So it is not a big deal. Even if I did not have the company vehicle I would still gladly pay for my fuel because the truck looks awesome and I can do absolutely anything I need to with it.

I used to own a 2001 Ford Ranger with all of the Edge Options(Edge came out in 2002). Had some decent pickup to it, but towing is a pain and the bed is not big enough to handle things like plywood, anything over 6ft long, and so on. A midsized truck is not really a truck that can be used for hauling things unless you have a trailer. A full size truck does not have this problem with most things.

that's like what I had, I had a Prerunner so it was 2wd (wished a lot of times that I had 4x4 in Blacksburg in the winter time!) Had the extended cab, so it was two door, but had the back seats

this was (not) mine, but exactly the same, except mine didn't have the bed cover, step rails, or moon roof:

The Tacoma can tow between 3300 and 6500 lb. Depending on which model you choose.

I'm not too keen on the GM 4WD trucks, but a RWD GMC/Chevy truck will normally go for 300k+ if maintained well...I wouldn't be too anxious to buy a truck from Japan.

Where I work the field guys drive Fords...mostly F250s diesels and most of them start having problems around 150k or so.

Those little half ton trucks don't do it for me.

I have a 2009 Tacoma.

Would suggest. Great truck. Change the oil and she will go forever. My 1st one was a 1988 and I had 320k on it. The frame gave out before that motor did.

Dont get the TRD package. Waste of money.. Get the SR5 package and if you want better wheels etc get them after market.

Gas mileage for me is on average around 18 or so. The new Full size PU's are getting better then that now but they also are 15-20k more to buy.

well considering my 27ft travel trailer weighs 6000lbs dry.. i would say yes.. since the biggest popup only weighs about 4500lb loaded.

Okay thanks, good to know. I have been in tents my whole life, few years back I had a chainsaw kick back on cut my neck tossed me from a tree broke my back, knights on the ground hurt quite a bit now-a-day. I think a Pop Up would work for me as my wife won't camp at all.

I love to camp.. but I am not sleeping on the ground unless it is absolutely necessary.. I did the hybrid travel trailer when my kids were little.. it was way easier then a pop up .. you just let the beds down and they are easy to do by yourself.. this was my first travel trailer.. I highly suggest going this route..

the gf and I went tent camping a few weeks ago when we went to Floydfest...started out great, then it started raining at about 11:30pm Friday, and continued strong for about 15.5 hours...the festival was awesome, but man did that make for a terrible night sleep Friday, didn't have a dry inch on me when I woke up.

We're going camping again, in a couple weeks, hoping for some better weather this time

I will look into that. What size is the bed? I like to stretch out.
