The Phillies will not renew the contract of general manager and vice president Ruben Amaro Jr.

Scott Proefrock will take over as the interim GM in Philly, effective immediately. He had been serving as the assistant GM under Amaro. It's not a surprising move after what has transpired in Philadelphia over the last four years, but Amaro has done well to beef up the club's farm system since it was declared that the Phillies would go into rebuilding mode. It should be an attractive job if the Phillies don't stay with Proefrock into 2016.
