used to catch them all the time when I was a kid. There now almost extinct (or at least a lot fewer in number).

They can 'spit blood' when provoked. This is why some TCU helmets, if you look closely, have a thin red streak (one of their alt unis).

They actually dont spit blood, is really a thing with a blood pocket in their eyelids, or something like that.

LOL...that's Barney Bear, old 50's cartoon.

It was an odd choice for a mascot, there were probably never any bears that far south, but the other options that were up for vote when they picked a mascot were eagle, antelope, buffalo, and "bookworm."
