Indeed. Postseason performances should only be considered a bonus. And there are only so many players out there with a meaningful career sample size in the postseason (Smoltz, Maddux, Rivera, Jeter, etc).

Yes it is, especially considering they're scattered over several seasons. 51 innings is about 1/4 a season for starting pitchers nowadays. 8 starts when a starting pitcher makes 30-35 starts a year. That is a small sample size.
