Coveting Shea Weber and getting Cam Barker is the most Vancouver Canucks thing ever.
Pierre LeBrun doesn't mind this signing by the Canucks - Of course, if the Flames signed Barker, they would be torn apart by TSN and other media people.
$700k prorated. pretty much zero risk.
Vancouver, B.C. – The Vancouver Canucks announced plans today to host a special home opening weekend celebrating the passion and support of their loyal fans beginning on Saturday, January 19th when the Canucks host the Anaheim Ducks at 7:00 pm at Rogers Arena. A memorable weekend of tributes, in-game experiences, merchandise and food discounts and prizes honouring fans will begin with a season ticket holder dropping the puck in a ceremonial faceoff and close with the popular post-game Jerseys off our Backs tradition on Saturday evening.
Presented by Vancouver Canucks players Jerseys off our Backs invites 24 lucky fans to join in a unique experience and receive game-worn sweaters signed by their favourite players. Fans are chosen by random draw and escorted to meet the players on-ice at the conclusion of the game.
A new game opening video will unveil for the first time on opening night and every game thereafter celebrating the unique and inspirational pride of loyal Canucks fans. Following the fan-centered video, one lucky season ticket holder will take to the ice for the first puck drop of the season.* Also featured on opening night is the launch of the My First Game program where the club hosts a fan that has never been to a Canucks game and delivers a special welcome to Rogers Arena.
Prize giveaways on opening weekend will feature one lucky fan and a guest having the opportunity to win a road trip with the Canucks on the team charter. During the first three-game home stand all Canucks Team Store merchandise will be 50 percent off in addition to all concession hot dogs, popcorn, nachos and soft drinks priced at $1.00.
Further surprises, jerseys, tickets, suite giveaways and special prizing will be awarded throughout the weekend including the chance for one lucky fan to participate in the Budweiser Shoot to Win for $100,000 on opening night.
Leading up to opening night, fans are encouraged to visit canucks.com and regularly check @VanCanucks, the club’s official Twitter feed, for special prizing and important information.
Once again the Canucks for Kids Fund 50/50 prize draw will include a carryover of $70,000 in unclaimed funds added to the total jackpot for the home opening game. Half of the total earnings will be given to the fan with the winning 50/50 ticket while the other fifty percent of proceeds go to the Canucks for Kids Fund and are granted to children’s charities including the Canucks Autism Network and Canuck Place Children’s Hospice.
* Ticket information for opening weekend and games throughout the season is available at canucks.com/tickets or by calling Ticketmaster at 1-855-523-6800. January games are on sale this Tuesday at 2:00 pm and include Family Night ticket packages, Power Play Paks and executive suites.
I don't care if he's an 8 or 9 on the depth chart; if you get injuries, I'd rather have a no name than him as a replacement. He makes perennial punching bags Paul Martin and Keith Ballard look like future hall of famers.
Gillis on the competition to replace Kesler:
@almuirSI: Iginla, Booth and Hamhuis already down with groin strains. Take the over.
