The Season So Far-week –Week 8

1st 4: Alabama, Clemson, Notre Dame, LSU

2nd 4: Michigan, Oklahoma, Georgia, Florida

3rd 4: Ohio State, Texas, UCF, Washington

Analysis: The loss by Ohio State shook up the polls. Only Clemson looks to be on a par with Alabama. Notre Dame might have the best remaining schedule. Key elimination game this week with Georgia and Florida clashing. Michigan moved into good position as did Oklahoma.

Playoffs: Alabama, Clemson, Notre Dame, Oklahoma.

Analysis: Alabama has several tough games left with LSU, Auburn and the SEC Championship. Clemson and Notre Dame have the best schedules with Clemson’s toughest remaining game being this week at Florida St. Winner of Michigan-Ohio State could claim a spot. Oklahoma must win out.

Most surprising: LSU, Florida, Texas.

Analysis: LSU must beat Alabama to have a chance to play for the Natty. Florida has come back from several poor seasons and faces a big game with Georgia. Texas has come back from an opening day loss to Maryland, but would need a lot of things to happen to enter the playoffs.

Most disappointing: Nebraska, TCU, Arkansas.

Analysis: Nebraska having only 1 win is a shock. TCU was a pre-season top 20 team and now has 4 losses. Arkansas played better last week, but is still underperforming.

Heisman Trophy: Tua Tagovailoa, , Kyler Murray, Dwayne Haskins.

Analysis: Still a 3 man race and all are QB’s. Haskins dropped to number 3 because of the loss of Ohio State. All 3 are still playing great and the trophy can be any one of the 3 based on how their teams do in the final weeks.

Big 3 Games of the Week: Georgia-Florida, Clemson-Florida State, Penn State-Iowa

Analysis: Georgia and Florida in a big elimination game for the playoffs. Clemson’s last major obstacle could be Florida State and it’s on the road. Iowa is a sleeper bordering on the top 10 if they can beat Penn State. Picks are Georgia 24-17, Clemson 30-17, and Penn State by 24-20

Big games in the regular season: Oklahoma-West Virginia, Texas-West Virginia, UCF-South Florida, Alabama-LSU, Kentucky-Georgia, Michigan-Ohio State, Washington-Washington State.

Analysis: Nobody really has a playoff spot locked up. The two West Virginia games could determine the chances of the Big 12. Same with Michigan-Ohio State. Alabama-LSU could determine if the SEC will get 2 teams. PAC appears to be out of the picture, despite the importance of Washington and Washington State.
