The Season So Far-week –Week 4

1st 4: Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Ohio State

2nd 4: Oklahoma, LSU, Penn St, Notre Dame

3rd 4: Stanford, West Virginia, Auburn, Washington

Analysis : Bama is still the undisputed leader. Two key top ten matchups this week should clear the picture for the playoffs. Very little change at the top, though lower level wannabees got knocked off in surprising upsets.

Playoff teams: Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State, Oklahoma

Most surprising: LSU, Kentucky, Syracuse, No Texas St

Analysis: LSU is the clear leader here. Win over Auburn was impressive. Looming though is Alabama. Kentucky has been impressive with wins over Mississippi St and Florida. North Texas State has looked very strong offensively and is an outside threat for the New Year’s day bowl game.

Most disappointing: Nebraska, UCLA, Arkansas, Florida St

Analysis: Nebraska’s new regime has yet to reach first base. UCLA has no wins and Arkansas looked really bad for the 2nd week in a row. Florida State has been on this list for 2 years.

Heisman Trophy: Tua Tagovailoa, Dwayne Haskins, Kyler Murray, Will Grier.

Analysis: It’s become a QB race for the 2nd year in a row. Tagovailoa was just off my top list last week, but had another great game and took over the number 1 spot. Haskins has been great in all 4 games. Murray was not as dominant in the passing game, but still a good performance.

Big 3 Games of the Week: Ohio St-Penn State, Notre Dame-Stanford, West Virginia-Texas Tech

Analysis: 2 top ten matches highlight the week. Ohio State will have its toughest test of the year. Buckeyes by a field goal. Notre Dame with the home field advantage should win by about 7 over Stanford. West Virginia has to win on the road to be a top contender. 2 excellent QB’s, but West Virginia should be able to pull out a 7 point win in Lubbock.

Big games in October: Oklahoma-Texas, Georgia-LSU, Michigan-Michigan St, N Carolina St-Clemson, Washington-Oregon.

Analysis: Georgia v LSU looks like the biggest game of October. A lot of other games are marginally based on the outcome of other games. Still plenty of action left in the season..
