Anyone else just get kicked in the balls by this news?

He clearly fell off a bit at the end of last year, but I'm still shocked. Could have sworn he'd retire a Bear in his 40's. Be a Morten Anderson type, who hung around due to his accuracy. Provided that funk in December was just a little slump. The missed game winner vs SF was bad, no denying that.

But this just sucks... Feel like it's the end of an era. Weird thinking that we'll never see Robbie out there for us again.

I suppose Barth has had a pretty solid career himself. Good news on Sitton...

But damn... Thanks for the memories and good luck Robbie. Going to be weird for a while.

Been off ever since the 49ers game last season. And he missed two PATs on Thursday.

All I'll say is they better bring in someone good to replace him. Yes, 3 million is a big salary for a kicker, but Gould was beloved and the longest-tenured guy on the team. $3 Million is a small price to pay to be able to sell fans and free agents on loyalty.

The only way to get around loyalty and still attract FAs is to win big and repeatedly. If they bring in a kicker who helps us do that, I will be thrilled, but I am very skeptical right now.

Well, they signed Connor Barth almost immediately after releasing him. He has pretty good numbers throughout his career and has a big leg. Pretty impressive statistics from 50+

You fell victim to one of the classic blunders.

Yeah.
Depressing to see Robbie cut.
Heaven knows we need a kicker with a leg for when the offense stalls at mid-field.
What ever helps us squeak out a few wins.

Wonder if this is due to an injury that isnt really being reported. He didnt look like the same guy at the end of last year, and I remember being shocked about a couple of kicks. No Robby Good as Gould

At the end of the day, he is an aging kicker with a bloated salary. I understand the move, I guess. He flat-out cost us a couple games last year and missing 2 PAT's last week certainly doesn't acquire many votes of confidence...He was a great kicker for many years for the Bears...I'm sure someone will pick him up. I wish him the best. Time to move on.

Him missing that 33 yard kick was one of the more shocking moments I can remember over the past few years watching this team. Especially frustrating considering the multitude of different ways we gave that game away.

Robbie missing that kick in Minnesota in 2013 was also really bad. Trestman kicking on 2nd down in OT. What a joke.
