This upcoming series against the Rays is intriguing, but in the grand scheme of things it is no bigger than the last few series we have played. It is certainly not as big of a series as those that are against our division foes.

It's an interesting test, and an entertaining one. The two best teams in baseball going head to head.

But it stands to reason that if this ended up being the ALCS matchup, both teams could be improved after trade deadline moves.

If he is indeed getting healthy, I think he should go to AAA and get stretched out.
Gotta anticipate at least a couple of guys will miss some time at some point. Hopefully no season ending injuries.

That strength of schedule disparity will narrow quite a bit after this weekend.

Davis Wendzel is putting himself back on the map as a significant prospect. A lot of folks(I have my hand raised) cast him aside as a prospect for awhile. He can be a very valuable member of a big league club if his AAA performance comes remotely close to translating to big league production.

Not aimed at you but some count their chickens before they are hatched by looking at an opponent and based on their record that this will be the outcome and we have seen instances where that was not the case.

Yeah, that can definitely happen over the 100 games that are left. There is a decent chance that that evens out somewhat as well though. One or two opponents could get worse and one or two could get better.

If it stands just as it is now though, it would probably only make a minimal difference in the standings. Just based on that you might could argue that the Astros could play at the same skill level and maybe make up one game difference and vice versa for the Rangers. Of course, with injuries and mid-season trades even the Astros and the Rangers will not stay the same.

It's just something else to consider and discuss.

Specifically, BA has the Rangers going with North Carolina prep outfielder Walker Jenkins. Jenkins is a lefty hitting 18 year old with a impressive hit and power tools. Really, at this point, there’s an element of throwing darts at the board, because a month out, there’s not necessarily any definitiveness. And of course, the Rangers could go off the board completely, as we saw with Kumar Rocker.

Still, if Texas went with anyone other than one of the top five — LSU outfielder Dylan Crews, LSU pitcher Paul Skenes, Florida outfielder Wyatt Langford, prep outfielder Max Clark, or Jenkins — it would be a major surprise. At least two of those five are going to be there when Texas picks, and one of them is likely going to be a Texas Ranger.

I mentioned Foley before. I haven’t checked lately but all he gives up are grounders and singles. Strikeouts too. Seems like a great 8th inning guy. He won’t be cheap. Tigers are looking for a 3rd Baseman.
