I just put it in the Cowpies thread. In short, JJ said he was happy to go to a franchise with a winning culture where winning is expected. To JJ's credit he's not tried to roll it back. But Torts was pissed after what everyone in the organization did to help him.

Then Rutherford doubled down on it and said he didn't understand why Columbus didn't want him.

At face value, and with "normal" people, yes very overblown.

But it's Torts for one, and he knows how far this team went to help the guy. They offered him a 7 year deal in the summer likely knowing it was beyond what he was worth, and he'd be pushing 40 by the end. Jackets' lawyers helped him out in the battle with his parents and Torts kept playing him after he asked for a trade and/or playing time to market himself. Torts feels like the team did a whole lot for him and probably feels pretty personally insulted by the comment by JMFJ.

All he had to say was something along the lines of "this team has won cups recently, I can't wait to get in there and contribute". But he didn't. I don't know how to address this, but it feels like Jack Johnson isn't the brightest bulb in the box.

Then Rutherford piling on just set him off.



And if those pre-trade deadline locker room issues had anything to do with Jack, he better have his head on a swivel when he plays the Jackets.
