There's decent Crappie and Bluegill in there.

Every wiper I've ever seen caught was small tho.

Them Wipers can get pretty big too....

If they're all tiny they must be over-populated en sech

How do you know they are wipers? Was the lake recently stocked with 'em?

I'm not 100% sure they are wipers, but they look like a wiper to me. They are some kind of hybrid, because we never caught anything like them back when I was a kid. The lake is full of them and the kids catch more of those than Bluegill when bank fishing with a bobber in the warm months.

They look like this. Maybe 5 - 6" or so.

Next time ye catch one, look at it's tongue; there will be very distinctive round discolored circles on each side of the tongue, if there is only one then it is a white bass.

Also the horizontal lines on the fish will be broken, but sometimes this happens to white bass. The only way to confirm is it's tongue. They are also a hybrid and their not supposed to be able to reproduce.

I would need a magnifying glass.

Yes, I know wipers cannot reproduce.

I'll post a picture of one we caught in a minute. You tell me.

When you fillet a wiper they will have some "RED" meat in the fillet. You really want to remove as much of the red meat as possible. If you leave the red meat on the fillet, it will taste rreeeeaaaaalllllly gamey and it isn't very good. But if you get most of the red out of it it is very flakey white meat... TASTY too. Now I'm gonna have to get the walleye out of the freezer, ye got me cravin' some fish.......

These are the little bait thieves. They are all about this size. When we go fishing in the warmer months they keep me busy going from one kid's pole to the other they catch so many of them. When I was a kid it was Bluegill, now they catch 3 of these to every Bluegill.

Shit-fish if you can't eat them, imo.

That was my daughter's first fish on her new ice fishing combo today. They caught about 10 of them and we threw them all back. The Bluegill weren't big enough to keep either.

We only kept the Trout and Crappie over 10". Got a good quart freezer bag full.

:noidea: for sure....

If they haven't stocked this lake in awhile, I'd say it's a white bass, although it does have broken horizontal lines on it. Tough to say for sure.

I'm glad you got out and caught some though..... Had ta make the kids happy, happy....

Oh yeah they had a great time. Some of those hybrids are difficult to tell. Like a Walleye, Sauger, and Saugeye. I can tell the difference on most, but many can't.

Here is one of the Trout we caught.
