Canada was the only nation to bid on hosting the 2015 womens world cup after zimbabwe pulled out

For the us women to make it into some human rights / discrimination violation complaint is pure bullshit. Im waiting for the sounders and the timbers of mls to go on hunger strikes for being forced to play on turf all year round

More than a few people have said that the end game or motive for these turf complaints is for US Soccer to get the tournament pulled from canada and played in the US

THATS CERTAINLY NOT UNLIKEABLE !!

You read too much Canadian media. Haha, I have a really hard time believing this is an anti Canadian conspiracy. Talk about making a mountain out of a molehill.

To be fair (deported from the us) thats better than reading too much american media

What bigger mountain out of a molehill issue is there than the women making playing on fieldturf a discrimination issue :L

My brother covers soccer and he rails against the turf in bc place which is regarded as the worst in the mls and yet, hes talked to whitecaps and visiting players who have said the womens complaints are a complete joke

However they do appreciate that thanks to this womens tournament, brand new turf will be installed ... Which will also bring rugby 7's world tournaments to town

Major international tournaments shouldn't be played on turf. I, however, am far more concerned about any precedent this may set more than I am concerned for the well-being of professional athletes. I don't want to see World Cup or Euro games being played on turf any time soon.

Fair point on he media.

Look, I'm not saying that you can't hate women's soccer team. But them complaining about playing a tournament on turf is a far cry from a conspiracy to have the tournament moved out of Canada. The anti Canadian agenda part seems a little far fetched to me, hence the :tinfoil3:

The women's tourney will go off in Canada as planned and it will be a great success paving the way for a joint Canada / USA hosting of the 2022 World Cup that will be yanked from Qatar.

/FIFA's keeping the bribe money from Qatar.

Apparently the league Cup match between Middlesbrough and Liverpool was a decent one.

A penalty in the 120+ to tie it and Liverpool advances 14-13 on kicks.

I guess Ronaldo scored four goals earlier today - Rumo(u)r has it he's pretty good.

In other Capital One Cup action, Southampton defeats Arsenal 2-1 (first win for the Saints at the Gunners home park since 1987). The GWG was an absolute screamer by Clyne.

Red card for Rooney on an idiotic play should make the end of this game interesting.

Toronto FC just did the Caps a solid coming back from a 2-nil deficit as halftime to win 3-2 over Portland.

And the Caps respond with a 2-1 win over Real Salt Lake.
