Logan

I liked it, but I do think it was slightly overrated. There were somethings they did because it was rated R instead of because it was right for the story.

I would rate it as a top 10 comic book movie, but I am not sure it would break my top 5.

My main thoughts...

i was surprised more by what WASNT in it than what was.

1) No Deadpool. I expected it, but it was still odd.

2) No Stan Lee. I get that this was a super-serious movie, and a Stan Lee cameo would have been a bit out of place, but it was still weird not to see him in it.

3) No post-credit scene? I have read the directors reasoning, and I get it. But it still felt incomplete without one.

I also think they went a bit heavy handed with the F-bombs. I have no prob with Logan going F-crazy. Totally in character. But having X drop them in casual conversation? No way. If they had him dropping them during a dimentia riddled rant, I would be OK with it. Heck, I would totally get it. But Profesor X dropping multiple bombs in casual conversation? Totally out of character.

Just watched The Shallows. Blake Lively was literally in a bikini for 95% of the movie, and my god does she look amazing in a bikini.

...yet somehow the movie was still fucking terrible. Like I'm getting mad right now just thinking how terrible it was. From the halfway point it gets steadily worse and worse by the minute. The endING dues ex machina that they pull out to make the good guy win was honestly and absolutely the least satisfying conclusion to a movie I've ever seen. Aliens invading earth in high tech space faring vessels and Terra forming human killing walkers dieing to the common flu looks down on this ending and says "wow, now that's dumb."

But Google image search Blake lively in a bikini for the next 90 minutes and you'll come out ahead in the bargain.

I watched this. Blake and her bikini does nothing for me.

I have a hard time calling Logan a comic book movie. Its more of just a traditional guy action movie where waves and waves of people die to progress the plot.

For sure better: Avengers, Watchmen, The Dark Knight, Captain America 2
IMO better: Ant Man, Guardians of the Galaxy, Doctor Strange, Thor, Deadpool, Batman Begins

I think at that point, you can start looking at something like Logan in the 3rd tier of superhero movies but its about as much of a superhero movie as the Punisher is.

There were some times where Patrick Stewart was more like his character on American Dad than Professor X but it worked because most of the actors in Logan were really good. I think the guy from Narcos was fantastic as Donald Pierce but they didnt really have a script that made Pierce's character shine.
I really liked the scene where the farmer with the shotgun was unloading on the X24 and then stares down Logan and fires at him, too, and you're left to speculate if he wanted Logan dead because Logan brought ruin to everything he knew or he was just so far gone that he couldn't tell the difference.

As for your spoiler question, I definitely read it as your first option.

I think thats what the movie leads you to believe in general but the movie is so brutal that the reality is that it didn't matter.

Rogue One

I liked it, tho it was a bit long, and dragged at points. Visually, it was pretty great. WAAAAAYYY better than Force Wakens IMO, which I thought was a steaming turd.

Guess no one's watched a movie in a while.

Midnight Special: 2/5 stars. Great performances from Shannon (which is a given), Edgerton, and whoever played the kid. But the plot (which was only somewhat suspenseful in its build-up) climaxed to a pointless ending. If the movie had even just a decent ending, I would award it anywhere from 3 to 3.5/5 stars, depending on how good it was. But with how disappointing the ending was, I can't go any higher than 2/5.

Brokeback Mountain

9/10

It would've been more fun if it was two ladies instead of two dudes together, but whatever. Anne Hathaway and Michelle Williams each have a nice scene. I the main theme song they would play intermittently throughout the movie is really beautiful and got stuck in my head.

That is one disturbing, fucked up movie. I don't know how anyone enjoys it enough to watch it more than once. Sick fucks are really into that shit.

To be clear...I'm not referring to you as the sick fuck.
