Calvin Johnson has informed his family and coaches he's retiring!
Caldwell urged Johnson to sleep on his decision in early January, and now four weeks later it appears that Johnson's career is over at age 30 after nine brilliant NFL season. Although the Lions reportedly have not given up hope on Johnson changing his mind, the report indicates that he feels pretty content in his decision.

I give Calvin credit, like I gave Barry Sanders credit for leaving when his body will thank him when he turns 50. But I will wait til the season starts to see if his competitive nature does not win when some team close to a ring calls. Seems like a stand up guy to make sure he let his team know before the draft.

yeah,I hate to see Calvin retire.......He was all professional.He did his job everyday to the fullest without out all the showboating and hassles.
If there was anyone to retire and I wish he stayed in the league longer,it would be Calvin.......

His retirement is puzzling, but I do suppose I'm not going to complain about it. When that team didn't have Calvin out there, they were pretty hopeless.
