there is very little that would give me any hope he's even a shell of himself

I'd be shocked if he's in the league after this deal because he won't play for vet min and anyone giving him more than that needs their head checked.

Exactly. If the issue was just his back, that's one thing. You make sure it's not something that's always going to be a problem, get him rehabbed and playing again.

But this is a guy who seemingly will use any excuse he can get to not play. So a team can't even trust that he'll be diligent with his rehab to get back on the court asap.

What about Schroeder?

I like the player especially the way he’s played this year. Notice the only Raptor I’ve mentioned is OG because I think he could warrant an overpay. I assume that in order to acquire anything from Masai you need to overpay in that trade. As a career 33% 3 point shooter, I can’t start him alongside Maxey over Melton not that it’s a bad thing to start Melton. So then he’s the back up 2 and secondary ball handling and someone to run point in Maxey off minutes. I like that for sure but it’s a 10-12 minute a game position in the playoffs. That’s not worth overpaying for. However, if it’s Tobias expiring going out in an OG deal and the catch is the Sixers send picks and take on a contract like Derek and Boucher’s to free up their cap to get OG I think I would be in on Schroeder but only as a conduit to get OG.

You’re right though he fits the back up PG role I’m looking for. You reset your cap savings minus 12.5 for this summer though and you’re dealing with a guy who you will likely have to overpay in a trade for the player. I’m likely out on that cost relative to what role he can fill.
