I think if you do that you have to make the offensive and defensive winners eligible for the MVP too. We might be 2 or 3 years away from the same guy deserving all 3.

Right, players can and have won DPOY and MVP before in the same season so gotta have that possibility with OPOY too.

Think it goes back to the point that @trojanfan12 made.

Everyone has different criteria that matter to them. Some narrowing or definition of what voters should look for in an MVP would help.

Because the rules haven’t been consistent from year to year. And because it is so incredibly subjective, it does cheapen the accolade somewhat.

They add stuff sometimes, wouldn’t be very difficult if they wanted to. Surprised it doesn’t get discussed more. They have it in the NFL after all

Without looking, I’d bet Jordan and Freak either led the league in scoring the year they did it, or were top 3 at minimum.
