For a whim, I am going to use this thread to post what happens when I go back to 1972, using OOTP 20, and follow the results of the Texas Rangers as well as the rest of the MLB.

Some things will be different in here than real world baseball (i.e. the Amateur Draft will take place in December, not June).

If people want, you can post here and root for your own teams.

Let's start with a season preview:

Given the real life history of the Rangers, one playoff appearance before 1996 makes this a success.

I have actually played out the 1972 season a couple times before. The real-life Oakland Athletics won the World Series that year but they always struggle in this game

The game engine puts a lot of emphasis on team chemistry and gives the Athletics a poor team chemistry grade, thus hindering their performance. On the other hand, the Dodgers have a great team chemistry score, which causes them to do better in this game than they did in real life.
