Texas Rangers 2019-2020 Offseason Thread

We have had veterans who have went on to disappoint as well. Maybe we should trade them all at their peak to bring back a haul. Think of what we could have gotten for Odor after his first good season.

When I say untouchable I am assuming no GMs are going to lose their heads and offer us a Hershel Walker type trade.

To me, Huff is one of our untouchables in our system.

I get that no player is untouchable but Huff has light pole power. This if a guy you want to keep if possible

Funny thing about Mathis. Did not have a good framing year and looks like an overpay but our top 3 pitchers want him. Remember pitchers get their catchers signed.
Still I would be surprised if he lasts the year

He is definitely a guy you want to keep if possible.. that’s no doubt.
If he’s awesome defensively and can put up 30 homeruns a year with a .800 OPS that would be legit.

If I have a chance to gain another "Pudge" on my team, then by all means do it. You may never get that chance again. Pudge " like" catchers are rare and if you get two in a life time, you better keep them and count your baseball blessings.

Speaking of potential we have not seen anyone at catcher like Huff in a while. He may never be a HOF but he has similar qualities that could develop into something special.

The Astros scandal reminds us that as bad as it feels to lose, it feels worse to win if it’s done the wrong way. Definitely not Pudge-like. Huff hit 56 HR before he turned 22. Pudge only had 33 HR by the time he turned 22 and it took him one more season to do so and almost 1000 more AB.

Yep, he has skills that guys like Teagarden, Sasquatch, and Alfaro never had.
