About time for Walker. Jeter had good offensive stats but I watched games where he should have been given an error and they just would not do that in NY. Being in NY helped him in stature as well as I believe MY would have been huge if he played in NY.
I have always said, if Jeter had played his career here and MY had played in NY, that what is thought of each of them would have been reversed.

Other than the Rendon situation I have not had a problem with our off season so far. We have to be careful in not gutting our minor league system as we did that and we are just now getting it back to close where it should be. I mean how long has it been where we were even halfway decent at AAA with pitching. We also have to be careful on who we want to spend large sums of money on. I guy like Betts might be worth it next year.

I think that leaves us with Castellanos

Unless we have some shot at Arenado. I would take a pass on him. Too much work to get done with opt out.
StL not getting Ozuna still keeps them in the market

Just for fun what are some guesses on Castellanos’ contract?
I’m going to guess 4 year $65 mill with a 5th year team option of $18 mill or $5 mill buyout.
Guaranteed $70 mil over 4 years basically with the potential to make $83 mil over 5 years.
What’s are some other thoughts?

I think 4 at $62 million.

I figure JD will offer him 2 years $22M with team option for 3rd year at $12.5M

This is what I'm thinking too, but the contract will get signed at fewer years than Nick wants but will be money whipped into doing it. I'm thinking 3/40M with a 4th $15M year with $5m buyout, team option.
If I'm the Rangers I'm willing to pay more to have a shorter contract.

Yeah Castellanos' bat has been worth about 20 million a year consistently but his defense is about -5 million, I'd pay a DH 10-15 million to be a DH part timer in the field but that's about it

Nolan Arenado's Rockies future remains uncertain

Sources say the Rockies have told other teams that any Arenado trade must improve their 2020 Major League roster. In other words, they don’t plan to begin a rebuild this close to Spring Training and would insist on at least one Major League player in addition to prospects.

Fangraphs hate Willie and Danny. They also think Choo and Odor regress. Really low on Robbie
They like our pitching though.

Seattle based op so no surprise

Santana and Calhoun are the Rodney Dangerfields of the Rangers it seems.

I agree they ignored improving the team except the rotation. Pointed out the same when I said JD needs to give a plan to do so. I do not agree with them concerning Willie and Danny.

I think Fangraphs has some fundamental flaws in how they make projections. When you start putting data into formulas it is only as good as the theory behind the formula.

They don’t think highly of Frazier to your point as well. I am hoping he is not overused especially against RHP
