Interesting. If they are using a 40 man spot on him, I would have to think they will start/play him a lot. Also making a move today instead of waiting for Morales could mean Hart is gone tomorrow.

Willie Ballgame to DL. Montero called up as well. Divish thinks Montero is a one day deal until Morales gets here.

that makes sense, then

hart should be DFA'd within the next few hours, right?

I would guess so. Maybe they are waiting for Morales to arrive and pass a physical?

Y'all go easy on my UVa alum Chris Taylor if he struggles at first. He is an awesome kid.

He's a Mariner, he will struggle at first, he will struggle later. he will most likely be another in the long list of busted offensive prospects..........

How are they suppose to "compete"? Baseball isn't like football or basketball. Just hope they don't pull what they did with Moore and Johnson.

dont know much about this kid. Whats his story? Was he also beat out in ST by Brad Miller like Franklin was? Is he another m's kid who's rushed to the big leagues to try and bail out the dumpster fire that is our offense, destined to hit .200 like all the other failed rushed prospects and gets essentially ruined?

He's a 23 year old prospect. He wasn't in the picture for making the club during spring training because of his limited experience. This was his first year in AAA, and he did well enough down there to get called up.

Pretty normal.

56s McClendon said he'll look at matchups when deciding to play Miller or Taylor at SS, not a straight platoon.

Still I don't get it. How can he look at matchups when Taylor has no matchups. This is one thing I hate about the Mariners because they do moves like this, like Jones and Choo.

Agreed. I also like when they say we cut Buck because some pitchers weren't comfortable pitching to him plus Zunino was getting burned out and needs to rest more. The Zunino starts all but 2 games since Sucre came up. They always seem to do the opposite of what they say and what is normal.

I'm sure you know my feelings on the Buck releasing as absurd as it was.

I just do not understand calling a player up who honestly hasn't been as great as he was prior to his injury to just platoon unless you are showcasing him. You cannot possibly call BP and inny and outy as "competition". Baseball doesn't have practice's like the NFL or NBA, you can't outperform someone in baseball practice since the people you actually competing against are BP pitchers and assistant coach's hitting you the ball as opposed to the NFL and NBA where your competition is other professional athletes.

Agree. But I do like the premise that you have to compete to keep your job mentality. Maybe not actual one on one competition, but in a method that don't relax because you are not owed your spot type competition is my view of it for baseball. I have long felt players like Ackley and Smoak, and others, are given their spot and never questioned after that until this year. It has been like a given right for them to have their spot on the team and that kills me. They need to compete every day to keep it in a sense for me and I hope that if what they are referring to. The explanation sounded better in my head. :)

Taylor earned a chance to come up and play some SS.

It hurts nobody, and there's nothing abnormal about easing a kid into everyday play. It's rare to see a kid brought up and given anything near full time position play and at bats right away.

Plus with Willie B out, the need for a backup infielder is pretty big.

It's not rocket science here.
