Begs the question though who beats them out in the AFC? Feels like we've see Tomlin vs the Pats run its course to no avail really even with very strong rosters. And with the AFC East being so weak, HFA is in NE's court regardless of if they are the best in the AFC, imo. I still think the Pats are the favs in the AFC even if I agree with you.

Yeah. I would agree that the Pats took a step back but who will take them out in the post-season? The Jags? Steelers? Denver?

All are capable but the Patriot core is still pretty strong.

I would say the Pats took a step back this year. Lost a lot of playmakers/contributors from last year's team.

Yeah but they already clinched homefield

I don't disagree with any of this honestly. The thought that they can't be beat though is what I was more commenting towards. Like I said with them being weaker I do think they are vulnerable especially against teams with great pass rushes like say the Jaguars, Chargers, and I do still think the Steelers can stand a chance against them. Houston is another dark horse that I think will give a lot of teams trouble this year.

I suspect the Patriots will be way behind after 3rd quarter only to mount a big comeback and win in overtime.....

I've spent a a lot of hours watching (12)games I DVR'd during the past season.
@Cdumler says that the Pats lost playmakers. Danny Amendola.....yep, he made a ton of catches at critical times, because he was the only option from the slot. BUT, big but, he really didn't start doing anything until late in the season. Dion Lewis.........It appeared that he was all that and a peanut butter sandwich, but he only had 798 yards rushing. My guess is that Burkhead and Michel will be an improvement. Nate Solder...........In every one of my games Solder was beaten at least once for a sack. In the Houston game he gave up 3. Malcolm Butler.......Some people say he was the reason we lost the Super Bowl because he didn't play. MB had more than his share of problems during the season. He had games that he played well and games that WRs made him look like a severely handicapped combat vet. Small, undisciplined, but talented tackler.

People look at who's gone and never think about who's returning from the IR. 12 Starters on IR and they still made is to the last seconds of the Super Bowl.

Chargers if they ever got their shit together probably would. Which is precisely why it will never happen.
