Charlie Strong is expected to coach Texas' regular-season finale Friday against TCU, sources told ESPN's Brett McMurphy.
Strong, who suffered an embarrassing loss to Kansas on Saturday, is reportedly unlikely to last long beyond that game, however.
"I do not see how he can survive," one source told McMurphy. "He has been given every chance to succeed. Everyone wanted him to."
A decision on Strong's future at Texas - or lack thereof - is expected to come after the regular season, though the Kansas gaffe is thought by many to be the straw that breaks the back of his tenure with the program.
Strong is now 16-20 in nearly three full seasons with the Longhorns, and has yet to post a winning campaign.
He looked visibly shaken after Saturday's loss - perhaps the most embarrassing one in his three years at Texas - as he struggled to answer a question regarding his status at the school.
Meanwhile, a report surfaced Saturday morning that Texas boosters are pressuring the university to take a serious run at Houston's Tom Herman.
I genuinely feel bad for him when seeing that. That's fucking sad right there...I don't care who you are.
