Stephen Drew = Terrible Offense

I understand that Stephen Drew has great defense but my god is he so frustrating to watch at the plate or what?!?

The Red Sox would have been better with Iglesias's... Yes I have seen Drew on defense and he has made some great plays but the sox need production on both sides of the ball!

Paying $9 million is the reason he is playing right now, period..

Anyone else frustrated with this guy? I know he was injured with the concussion so he couldn't do much in Spring Training but still this guy hasn't proven anything at the plate... Will he ever?

They signed Drew for his offense. His D is only slighly above average. Igelsias may be/will be the best defensive player in the majors, if he can figure out how to hit consitently. Jose started out fine this season (1.026 OPS in 6 games), but he is now hitting about .150 at AAA (.589 OPS in 5 games), since Drew was activated.

If Iglesias can maintain a good average in the minors - and Drew doesn't find his stroke (he is coming off an injury) (is he related to JD?) - they'll make the switch, regardless of salary.

Also, Stephen Drew's middle name is Oris. What's up with that?

He played 150 or more games 3 of the previous 4 seasons prior to last year when he broke his foot in a gruesome type of injury that you don't want to watch the replay on......

Having watched the guy for years, he's very streaky with the bat, but always plays above average shortstop......

Is he worth what you are paying for him? Not in my opinion, but y'all have money to burn so it's not the worst expenditure of funds you have.....
