Hell, I think the conferences should kick out the other end of the spectrum for not being worth a shit. Oregon State, Rutgers, Kansas, etal.

That would also mean C-USA would say adios to my Miners...and we deserve it.
All yourn favorite teams would go independent

Not sure that makes as much difference at the college level like it does at the high school level.

Quick Look
Wake Forest has 7,500 students and Florida State has 32,000.
TCU has 10,000 students and Texas has 51,000

That's alright. UCF has over 60,000 students and they ain't even P5 worthy.

Yeah, Arizona State has 72,000 and they haven't really been world beaters.

Is this just for football? Or the entirety? Because I can assure you that St. Thomas has had f*cking ringers for many, many years. I remember in my track days those f*ckers had a f*cking Olympic Athlete dominate our conference's sprint titles. D3. I have no doubt they pulled similar sh*t in other sports. F*ck 'em. Move up to a higher division if you want to recruit elite athletes. End of story.

Any of you peanut gallery folks that have commented on this already actually compete in the MIAC or have any first hand experience with the MIAC? Jesus...That article is really out of touch with the ground level...as is per the norm with national reporting on a localized event.

I'm not saying I agree with this decision, after all the MIAC didn't boot St. John's when Gagliardi was there and was so dominant, but there may be more going on here than meets the eye. I saw another article that pointed out that St. Thomas has an enrollment that is about double anybody else in the conference, which is something the ESPN article linked pretty much glosses over. So there's a case that St. Thomas would maybe be better suited for DII instead.

John Gagliardi was a legend. It would have looked bad to kick out the Johnnies just because they were dominant in one sport. It looks as if the Tommies may have gained an edge in multiple sports & the other schools didn't feel they could keep up. Looks like there may have been some veiled suggestion of unfair competition, too. But, whatever the reason, as long as St. Thomas's sports programs are run on the up-and-up, they shouldn't have too much trouble finding another D-III conference. There's more of them than any other division, and quite a few are in the upper midwest.

The only reason ASU sucks at sports is because that school is littered with sluts. How can any male sport be on top of their game when they are having sex before the game then will get some after the game too?

The NBA could learn from the MIAC.

If the Warriors win another title the NBA could throw them out.

Update on this story.

It wouldn't be a complete solution to their problem, as the Summit League doesn't have football or hockey. They also would need a waiver from the NCAA to jump from DIII to DI.

I like how the conference points out that they spend $1.1 million on football to show how dedicated they are to the sport. My high school spent more than that on football when I was there.

I think St. Thomas should be granted the waiver from the NCAA to jump from D-3 to D-1 since they were kicked out of their conference for being too competitive. The biggest adjustment, of course, would be in football, but that could be mitigated to an extent by joining the non-scholarship Pioneer League.

Long Island got an instant upgrade this season by merging their D-3 C.W.Post campus with their non-football D-1 main campus. Their football team went from D-3 to FCS overnight & now competes in the Northeast Conference without having to go through the usual 4-year transition period.

I think having the conference invite will help their chances of getting the waiver. The article mentions they may play football in the Missouri Valley along with some of the other Summit League members that play football (Most notably North Dakota St.).

Yes, the article did mention the MVFC somewhat extensively, but it also mentioned the Pioneer League. The PL is their best choice in the short term; but the MVFC could be a future destination once they've gotten somewhat acclimated to FCS play.

Reading comprehension. Try it sometime.
