The Mets open a four-game series with the Cardinals on Monday at Citi Field at 7:10 p.m.
Jenrry Mejia (2-0, 2.81 ERA) gets the start for the Mets, opposed by Tyler Lyons for St. Louis. Lyons is making his first appearance of 2014.

The game will air on WPIX TV, and can be heard on WOR 710 AM radio.
Prior to the game, Bobby Abreu is expected to join the Mets from Triple-A Las Vegas. The Mets have yet to announce a corresponding roster move.

We're currently 9-9 on the season, sitting in 3rd place, 3 games back of the Braves

NEW YORK (4/21) -- Kyle Farnsworth will handle the closing duties in the short term with Jose Valverde having been deposed from the role. But clearly Farnworth is not the long-term answer. So unless the Mets sign free-agent Joel Hanrahan, who auditioned for clubs last week as he returns from Tommy John surgery, who is most equipped to handle the Mets' closing?

ESPNNewYork.com asked scouts assigned to the Mets: Which young pitcher in the organization would be the best choice to close if the Mets needed someone in the next few months? The options presented were Gonzalez Germen, Jeurys Familia, Jenrry Mejia, Jacob deGrom, Rafael Montero, Jeff Walters or someone else.

Scout 1: "Familia may be the best choice. He's already there, with a power arm. Control is the question mark. I don't like to move a starter into that role without experience in the pen."

Scout 2: "I'd go with deGrom (2-0, 1.57 ERA in four starts at Triple-A Las Vegas). I think he has the mentality to at least give it a chance. He's the closest thing to a closer of all of them for me. Not even Familia. And definitely not Montero. He's a starter."

Scout 3: "Mejia is the best of that bunch from what I have seen, but none of the above is more appropriate."

My guess is this guy Lyons goes 7 innings 3 hit ball, strikes out 9 and dominates us, we love letting no-name pitchers tear us up.

Because we're facing a leftie? :noidea:

To me that means nothing.....it's an overrated/overplayed tactic.

The gist of my concern is with leaving Grandy in the 2 spot, batting Chris Young cleanup...and not giving Recker another start over the light hitting lefty Td'A.

NEW YORK(4/21) -- Andrew Brown was shipped to Triple-A Las Vegas before Monday's series opener against the St. Louis Cardinals, clearing the roster spot for the promotion of Bobby Abreu.

Brown was hitting .185 with one homer and five RBIs in 27 at-bats.

The Mets decided to have the lefty-hitting Abreu replace the righty-hitting Brown over the lefty-hitting Kirk Nieuwenhuis, so Nieuwenhuis likely survives until Juan Lagares returns from the disabled list.

Brown had survived multiple potential demotions this season, including thanks for Chris Young's DL stint and the trade of Ike Davis.

Why even bother trying to find logic in TC's decisions? We never agree with them. lol that's pretty clear.

Murphy walks
Satin walks....
Murph steals 3rd.....and OMG...Td'A picks up CY w/ an 2bi single scoring murph....2-0
Tejada reaches on an infield single....bags drunk, 1 out
Mejia pops out on 1st pitch......and unfortunately so does EY......smh
Lack of patience there at the plate might come back to haunt.
Onto the 7th.
