Very interesting, Elway didn't think Brock was worth 16 mil a year and wasn't going to pay it, now he doesn't have too. Now the Broncos get back a QB who no longer has a huge head and thinks he's worth anything.

Less than 18 months after Brock Osweiler spurned $16 million per year from the Broncos, he’s back. For a lot less. Per multiple reports, Osweiler will return to the Broncos. It likely will be a one-year, $775,000 deal. But he’ll stick make $16 million in 2017. The other $15.225 million will come from the Browns.

Elway offered him a long term contract, do you remember what the amount was ? @cdumler7 would....
I thought it was in the neighborhood of 14 mil per but the guaranteed money was way less than Houston...
Watching him in preseason: No way in hell. They're starting Siemian over him in year two. That says a lot to me.Lol, that's crazy. Looks like Paxton Lynch is missing 5 weeks+. But I wonder if they're happy with him overall. This signing doesn't look good for PL, at first glance.
And if he stuck with Denver he would've at least done alright because he knew the system so Elway did want him but he refused to pay the ungodly amount Houston offered because he knew Brock wasn't worth it. And he was 100% right so now Brock is back for 800 grand and with no ego.
I agree, my point was that Elway did want him to stay and offered him a legitimate/reasonable contract but he chose to leave.....Did they sign him back on the cheap ?
About $800,000 so yes.
Elway did want Osweiler to a point. They didn't think he had shown enough to deserve a long-term contract so first offer was closer to the $10 million a year on a 2-year deal with only the 1st year guaranteed. When he saw the market go crazy after the signing of Bradford for $18 million a year Elway upped his offer to $14 million a year on a 4-year deal with only the first 2-years guaranteed. He made one final offer for $16 million a year on a 2-year deal but again was shot down. Then of course Houston paid big money for him.
Now I do think with the Bronocs this past year he would have had a better year than what he did in Houston. He knew the system and players so wouldn't have been the adjustment period and the pressure completely like he had in Houston.
Right now with the Broncos this move makes complete sense. Brock knows most of the players on the team still. He knows the organization as a whole. He has also worked with Mike McCoy (OC for the Broncos) before and is coming to Denver for less than $800,000 a year. Think about what some of the backups around the league are getting paid right now.
