My friend and I banter back and forth about this all the time. He claims the Beatles are the best group ever, I disagree but include they may be the most influential band ever but that does not make them the best. So!!!

It's next to impossible to say who's the best band ever. It's all subjective. Everyone will have a different opinion.

They turned Grade 4 upside down for me after appearing on Ed Sullivan.

I only own 2 albums, Peppers and Abbey Road.

But can tap a toe to many of their tunes.

Not best ever though.
For some reason I love Pepper and Rubber Soul but agreed not best ever but have no issues when someone tosses on a Beatles album

True but all those subjective opinions can culminates into a pretty solid argument.

Rolling Stones. And they're still going.

Yeah, Beatles were the tops for me in high school. Jefferson Airplane in college. But looking back over the decades, it's the Stones. No doubt.
Yeah they are up there for sure. Not sure I can narrow it down to one but for the purpose of conversation I can say The Kinks are my favorite that does not make them the best. For me Zep or the Stones

The amount of music the Beatles put out during their run is ridiculous. The Stones were great but peaked in the 1970’s. Longevity means nothing if you haven’t done anything notable in 40 years.

Beatles, I can see people ranking them the greatest but more like most influential to me.

Not a big Stones fan, though they do have a few good songs.

Yeah but half of it the beginning years were all bubble gum BS. And at the time records labels weren't as greedy they would produce anything. I agree that they produced a lot of music I don't agree it was all good, If I never heard I want to hold your hand or Eight day's a week it would be way to soon

They're in my top 10, would be higher if they hadn't gone totally pop.
So if Peter Gabriel hung around. The all felt Peter was to weird

The first couple of years they were famous (63’-64’) were “bubble gum” but they did it better than everyone and they did tons of it. And IMO, almost all of those tunes still hold up and are highly enjoyable. The Stones weren’t doing anything groundbreaking during that period, either.
