Shift right and hammer the inside of the plate.

Probably the shortest book on any batter in the MLB.

What a bust he turned out to be, looks like he had everything you want in a 1st basement/DH but just couldn't put it together in a M's uniform. As stated above, I expect him to have a productive season with Toronto next year

WOW.

There was lots of talk in the Giants blogosphere that the Giants should have taken Smoak instead of Posey (pre-2010, of course).

He is the prime example of why hitting a baseball is one of the hardest things to do in all of sports.

A primary problem is that coaches keep looking at him as the great unicorn of a switch hitting power bat. Had he not been such a highly touted prospect any organization would've forced his hand on deciding which side of the plate he wants to hit from and work on him being a viable major league hitter.

Is Toronto y'alls Baltimore? Everything you castaway turns to gold there?

He'll be part of one of the top offense in baseball now.

Time to see if they have a coaching staff that can mold potential into results. God knows we don't.

Not surprised Smoak is gone. I also wouldn't be surprised if he finally becomes what everyone thought he would be. The Blue Jays have a very good offense which will only help him at the plate.

Not necessarily Toronto. This guy did show potential at times, but very inconsistent. If put on a competent team where he is not forced to hit clean up I believe he can be productive. He has a great glove at first.

How often did Smoak hit cleanup this year and in previous years?

I honestly have no idea.

Looks like all his warning track fly balls will be homers now. I wish him success, he always worked hard it just wasn't happening here for him

About friggin time, no more Bustin Smoak! If he does well in Toronto than that's something I'm willing to accept because he sure didn't do jack crap here.

Very possible. It will be easier for him to hide in that potent Blue Jay offense.

Primary difference between Smoak and Ackley:
Smoak has plenty of confidence but is lack of hitting talent is easily exposed.
Ackley has plenty of talent but is confidence is shakier than the ground under Mount St Helens.

In 2014, Smoak hit 4th 26 times in his 80 games, so nearly 1/3 of the time. It was also the most often place for him to hit (21 in 5th, and 19 in 6th round out the top 3).
