My daughter was a freshman at Mizzou last year.....I was on campus all the time. The media over hyped to get viewers/clicks on the internet. Yes, some of the football players were dumb and got sucked in by the stupidity which allowed the media to get involved. Gary Pinkel screwed that up
You'll probably be able to rent her old dorm room out this fall, for football games.

TexASS ruined the Big 12....the old Big 8 was pretty good. TexASS sucks and the rest of the idiots allowing them to run the conference into the ground. There is a reason why Colorado, Nebraska, A&M and Mizzou left....it was TexASS

So Missouri left, now they are irrelevant in the SEC just like they were in the Big 6/7/8/12

These middle school jokes are so funny......Mizzou has tons of old dorms they are not using anymore. They also have brand new dorms, one of which my daughter used last year. However, Columbia has also a lot of new apartments near campus, which many students are choosing to live instead of on campus. Just like every college in the US.

The renting out of old dorm rooms is actually a pretty good idea. Hotels in Columbia are expensive during game weeks.

SEC wanted Mizzou, didn't want Oklahoma. LOSER

Lmao. No. They absolutely wanted Oklahoma. They took your shitty ass school when the state regents wouldn't let Oklahoma leave without taking little brother. Their preference was to take A&M and Oklahoma. It's well known they extended an invite. You were second choice at best.

They opened 1 last year. Opening a new one this year. Closing 7.

University of Missouri to temporarily close more dorms
The latest three residence halls to be taken temporarily out of service are Center, Responsibility and Discovery halls, University of Missouri spokesman Christian Basi said. The university previously announced that Respect, Excellence, Schurz and McDavid wouldn’t operate in the fall unless there was sufficient demand to reopen some of them.

Combined, the seven halls are capable of housing about 1,500 students. Excellence didn’t operate this year, along with two other halls that are being demolished to make way for new halls. One of the new halls opened last fall, and another is opening this fall.

Mizzou's residence halls offer housing mostly for freshman and a few others. When undergraduate enrollment growth seemed to have no limit, the university built up its investment in on-campus housing.

Demand surged to exceed supply; in fact, as Vice Chancellor for Operations Gary Ward recently described it, MU had to "rent off-campus housing for students when there was no room in dorms."

That was the case until two years ago. Freshman enrollment this fall looks to be down about 2,000 students. MU has gone from overflowing dorms to seven empty residence halls.

Mizzou had a record breaking freshman class a few years ago

Yep...broad brush painting. My niece goes to school at Baylor. I asked her if she was scared to be on a campus with a bunch of guys that sexually assault the women. She said she wasn't scared in the least. Said her high school was more dangerous than Baylor. She did say that good little Baptist school has lot of sex parties that would make the image makers cringe! And not assualts, very willing participants at them. Not as pure lily white as the powers that be would like the image to be.

Now they're letting go of 307 university employees.
GOP controlled House, Senate and Gov have no love lost when it comes to Mizzou. When the state growth predictions came a couple of percentage points down, Columbia had to know it was getting hit the hardest after the last stunt.

You're right. All the GOP's fault. Nothing to do with the University itself.

Don't patronize me with your sarcastic strawman bullshit.

Its obviously that rich kid from Minnesota, our ex football coach who was dealing with illness and had one foot out the door, and that evil monkey woman who works at Gonzaga and Mizzou desire to appeal to national teachers' associations by not immediately firing her.

But Columbia also had its best real estate market in its history the past couple of years, some pretty crazy growth in its past couple of years and its best enrollment numbers for awhile. They probably had a correction in order regardless (historically awful sports teams say hello) but its being compounded by the idiocy that happened a couple of years back.

Because it isn't so much from a logical standpoint as much as a 3rd grade,"nah ahhh" argument.
