Should the Mets trade deGrom now?? This article makes a strong case for it. But can they trust Brodie to do it right??

deGrom’s a guy you build the rest of a team around. If the Mets were a quality organization, they dump their GM and bring in someone who knows how to manage the rest of the roster.

Shouldn’t have extended him. Hard for me to see trading for a guy who’ll be over 35 at the end of his contract and is not having near the season he did last season. Could have got a king’s ransom last July

I think you still can...that contract isn't that bad.....I still think you might see it happen...the problem is letting Brodie do it...

The Mets needed to start a rebuild last season. deGrom and Syndergaard have both declined this season when they could have reloaded the farm system by themselves with a trade last season.

They've declined because Ramos sucks....they both have pitched much better with Nido behind the plate....they haven't declined that much...I'm pretty sure most teams in baseball would like to have any one of those four deGrom,Syndergaard,Wheeler or Matz...

I'm going to go with a big no.

Perhaps Brodie can find a way to trade himself out of Flushing.

I'd be looking to deal Wheeler +/or Matz instead.

And lord knows that bullpen could use a complete overhaul.

Also need to find a taker for Lagares, and maybe Frazier so JD Davis plays 3B everyday.

There is like 0 trade surplus with that contract..... IF he is worth that money, his trade value is 0, if he is worth more its over 0, if its less hes a bad contract.

Teams never get anything back when they trade that kind of a contract. The mets couldnt get a top 100 prospect for him unless they ate part of the money.

Depends how bad that team wants the ring my friend...its not like he's 38.he would be the no.1 starter on almost any team ...deGrom has at least 4 good years left and that contract is not that rich for a no.1 starter...so I kinda disagree with you if he was 38-39..then your point makes sense...but not at 31...sorry

Trade him to the Brewers. Take our farm system. A couple relievers. Name it.

There's no guarantees with pitchers. Brandon Webb was among the most durable and dominant pitchers in the league and an injury did him in. Halladay finished 2nd in the CYA voting in 2011 and retired at the end of 2013. Cliff Lee was among the best pitchers in the NL in 2013 and retired several years later.
