It's on TBS/TNT/TRU. Therefore only available to cable, satellite subscribers.

By 'Major Network' I mean CBS, NBC, ABC, Fox. (Something you can pick up over the airwaves and don't need cable)

I understand putting the original 64, 32, and 16 on TBS,TNT, TRU because there are multiple games going on at the same time.

It's not an issue for me, but not everyone has cable. Some by choice, some because they're poor.

The Championship game is on CBS, so I give them some credit.

It's the world in which we live. The cable companies pay for the right to broadcast the games and expect those rights to be exclusive.

As long as ESPiN doesn't air it, I don't care if they put it on PPV!

I'm surprised they don't.

I remember years ago there was talk that all championship games (Super Bowls, CFB NC's, etc.) would eventually only be on cable/satellite. I'm guessing we're pretty close to that happening.

Once MNF moved to an off-air network (ESPN) it was clear that nothing was safe.

Absolutely should be aired on a major network. CBS IS March Madness. I know TNT/Tru and TBS are all apart of CBS and thankfully they keep everything the same, but it should be on CBS for the FInal 4 and Finals.

Once MNF moved to ESPN it turned to complete crap.

Watch out for Sunday Night Football, it might be moving to MSNBC soon.

I'd much rather it be aired on CBS but given the choice of:

Final Four and NC on CBS and about 1/4th of the early round games being viewable on network television.

-or-

Final Four on TBS, NC on CBS and every single one of the early round games viewable on basic network television.

I'll take the second choice every time.

And the reality is CBS/Viacom didn't have the right combination of networks (The NCAA probably didn't want 2nd round games being shown on MTV) So the had to partner with someone else. So they hopped in bed with Turner, and in doing so they had to make the concession to let Turner have the Final Four games. Not ideal, but certainly a tolerable situation considering what we the viewers gain in return.

I'm sure CBS receives special concessions from major cable and satellite companies for doing this. It's the way of the future. I'm sure we'll see the super bowl on Fox sports 1 before I die. Get that cable hoes.

Absolutely, since when do they care if people who don't pay don't get to watch? (These days)

I dont have a problem with it. As someone else said, as long as ESPN doesnt get it, its fine.

it's the world we live in. The major networks own or are owned by the main cable outlets, so it's really a mute point anymore.

Thank you! Kind of embarrassing, since I know the difference...I've done this twice on this site, don't think I've ever done it before in my life. However, not sure I've ever written anything with 'moot' since I was in college, many, many moons ago.

It's even worse, when several people put my quote up to comment on my comment, and I have to look at it again :L

Kudos for at least being a good sport about it. Some people's fragile little egos can't handle that sort of thing.

NBC is owned by Comcast. That's about it.

ABC and ESPN are both either owned by Disney? Or they are just in some kind of biz alliance?

CBS has a number of cable channels, I believe.

OH wait! I'm thinking channels... not cable networks. I was thinking the major networks have cable channels, so that was why I was thinking, why not show the games on the cable channels..

I'm all confused now.

I thought the biggest joke was how TNT decides to broadcast a second version featuring biased commentary..

man, between mute/moot, networks, cable, channels and providers, I'm toast. Think I'm gonna go watch some baseball for awhile, until the other game comes on!
