Of course in the article headline they make it look like he's trashing Tom Brady. He actually has good things to say about Brady but the media needs their sensationalism.

Here's his top 5 list:

1. Peyton Manning: Nobody else has both the authority to do that within their offense and the understanding to know when it's appropriate. His arm, however, is another story. His passes will be accurate and on time, but he throws ducks.
2. Drew Brees: He makes incredible adjustments during the game. He'll struggle for a stretch and then go to the sidelines and look at pictures and then come back and attack the defense a new way. It's almost like they installed a whole new game plan.
3. Aaron Rodgers: He really plays the game calm. He makes all of his checks, and plays with a double count, which a lot of quarterbacks do to get defenses to show their hand. He can identify defenses and he really spreads the ball out to some great receivers.
4. Russell Wilson: His understanding of the pass rush lanes and his elusiveness is unique. Some of that is about intelligence: Watching film and knowing where the defense likes to attack. He has a tremendous understanding of scheme and zone reads, and play-action fakes.
5. Andrew Luck: As my teammate at Stanford, I saw him call offenses, given three or four plays to pick from, and choose the correct play. He understands the run game and where the mismatches are by counting the linebackers.

Yeah, it looks like the media is grasping at straws with their sensationalism of this story. Sherman says that Brady would be number 6 on his list, which would still make him smarter than about 80% of the 32 starting QBs.

This is how I see it too.

But nothing wrong with Sherman getting his teammate in there.

Pretty hard to take this list seriously with no Tavares Jackson on it.

Lol, not even. It's clear he's taking a shot at Brady. I can understand the homer pick of Wilson. I'd do the same thing if I were his teammate. I'll just leave it at that.

Seems a little bias to me.... but that's my opinion and obviously he's giving his which is based on a lot more experience in the NFL than I have. But just saying.

Brady didnt have à top 5 year. I dont see the problem. Most Pats fans were disappointed by his performance this year, why should he be considered top 5 because of what he did previous years?

Remember guys, Sherman isn't saying who the best QB is, he is talking about which ones he thinks are the smartest. Like if you could get Peter King into a football uniform as a QB, he would be awful but at the same time he might also be the smartest. Sherman talks about reading D's and disguising plays. Things like that. In his opinion he just thinks that these five are the best (smartest) at doing that.

Manning is pretty obvious. I don't even know why Peyton Manning teams even pay for an Offensive Coordinator.
Wilson is renowned already for his intense study habits and rabid desire to prepare for teams.
Luck is a Stanford guy so that alone should tell you he's pretty bright.
Brees and Rodgers you could probably interchange with Brady. All three are smart QB's as evidenced by their belt buckle sized SB rings.

I think its a fair list, especially from a Sherman point of view.

He could have expanded the list to 15 smartest and there'd be someone upset that their favorite team's QB didn't make the list. He gave his opinion and some people disagree with it. That happens with him from time-to-time.
