Round 1 Brandon Scherff... NO surprise here as I have been championing this guy for weeks now. He has the size, strength and more importantly the attitude we need on our O-line. Combined with Trent, I think he gives us the book ends we need for the next seven years and might be the start of the rebirth of dare I say it.. .The Hogs baby!!!

Round 2 Ereck Flowers...I know he is listed as an OT, and slated to go in the 1st round.. .But I think he slips. Not because he cant hold it down and be an OT in this league. But because if he gets past the Lions at 23, most of the teams between us and him dont actually have a need for an O-lineman and they will be going after the "Impact players" at other positions. With him and Scherff, I think we lock down the right side of the line for a long time and add the kind of beef that allows us to actually run and pass the ball to the right side of the offense finally. He would likely move inside as our starting RG from day one and we can all send Chirs Chester a thank you card and Flowers. (Pun intended)

Round three... A Nod to Dean and the Pass Rusher needed posse Kwon Alexander... OLB LSU. This kid could stand to gain about 10-15 LBS as long as he doesnt lose his speed. He is straight up usless in coverage I admit. and I would have to swap in Trent Murphy on running plays. But he is purely a guided missile on 3rd and long to medium. He is an aggressive, tenacious defender that seems to enjoy the physicality of the game. Basically tell him to go kill the QB and hand him a beggin strip when he gets back to the side line.

Round Four... Getting into the project players here... Eric Rowe..CB Utah... if you know me you know I am becoming a fan of corners with size. I think Rowe translates better as a Free safety because he has the size, but not the blazing speed to keep up with the burner #2 WR. But I think he could play swing between both positios giving us some flexibility room when we go max coverage. And he has the muscle to bring down some of the chunkier backs he might be faced with if the Inside breaks down on run plays.

Rounds 5-7 Simply put... The Best player that you didnt expect to be there. Nothing position specific, although I would lean towards another CB and another safety..... And a fat kid to go on the D-line. Although depending on what we end up with at Rb, cant rule that out either.

OK guys have at it... :)

I left 5-7 open and I took Rowe in 4 with the intention of moving him to Safety. And 2 out of 7 picks is not that heavy on o-line. Especially considering the shape of our o-line at present.

Stark irony, isn't it that you're devising a draft plan to protect "Bob"? ;) I agree in general with the philosophy but register my concerns with the use of the first pick. Of course, Scherff, to some, can be a very effective OT. If so, second rounder could be a guard, or we could use yet another third rounder on a guard. If the latter, we can use the second rounder on an OLB.

Still think our best bet is to trade down.

Contrary to appearances, this draft plan isnt about protecting Bob. Its about figuring out if in fact Bob or Kirk can be the future, and if not having a line in place so that whomever we do eventually end up with doesnt end up looking like the elephant man half way into the season.

I agree the 2nd rounder COULD be an OLB and the 3rd a Guard. BUt my thinking was to put the best talent available into the O line, use the 3rd rounder on a pass rush specialist and 4-7 on BPA mostly secondary types.

Shark, there is no way that Flowers is going to be there in the 2nd round when we pick. Cmon that is just foolish. If MM goes to the 2nd overall pick to what ever team it is and we stay at #5 Fowler should be there. I cant see the Skins passing on Fowler.

Shark I think Erving has a better chance to be in the 2nd than Flowers. Erving plays every position on the oline. You cant pass on him.

Fowler and Erving is a strong draft. Nevermind what happens from 3-7.

Dean... last year you thought there was no way we would get Moses unless we took him in the second. I think between Flowers, Clemmings and Fisher one of the three will be there. I just would hope Flowers was the one to slide.

And honestly why would we draft a center in the 2nd when we need a guard and a tackle??

I know you are ded set on us doing any thing but taking an O-lineman at five, but come one you got to admit just a little bit that solidifying that line is going to do a whole lot more for this team now and going forward than another skill position or pass rusher.

Erving can play tackle and guard. He plays ever position on the oline. You can make the argument that Flowers in the best lineman in this draft. No way he is in the 2nd. I will agree with you that Fisher will be there in the 2nd. Maybe Clemmings but that is pushing it. Flowers should be the 3rd olineman taken in the draft. So you think there is only going to be two OT's drafted in the 1st round?

I would have no problems with this, I do not trust the pass rushers available. It would be nice if Williams slipped.

Round 2 Ereck Flowers...I know he is listed as an OT, and slated to go in the 1st round.. .But I think he slips. Not because he cant hold it down and be an OT in this league. This is highly improbable, but if we landed him I would be extremely excited about our chances to bully teams offensively

I'm not familiar with this guy, but depth is always important

This guy has some impressive combine results and I'd love it if we could land him

I'm starting to get on board the OT train, and Rowe is a sleeper prospect to me.
Nice mock although, I do think Flowers in the 2nd would be too good to be true!!!

I think we're saying the same thing here. We need the o-line to protect whomever is QBing to determine what we've got. I mentioned Mr. Griffin III because he's been named the starter, at least for the time being.
