Pitcher killer.

I was thinking the same this morning. I remember people not wanting him when there was a rumor we may go after him but we got his dumber step-brother instead.

Honestly I'd take Lasorda too. If a pitcher can't last or go 7 plus every time out then Boras can pound sand asking for $25 million plus a year

All time pitcher killer was Lasorda.
I don't doubt you but I don't go back quite that far. 130-pitch games by Kerry Wood and Mark Prior are fresher on my mind. He killed a couple of prodigies in San Francisco too. Van Landingham or Van Landenberg or something like that.

I've read that Nolan Ryan, Sam McDowell, Bert Blyleven, Steve Carlton, Tom Seaver and some of the pitchers from a couple eras back used to regularly go over 200 pitches in a game. I guess they were trained differently, I don't know. It just seems that today's pitchers are asked to get through the lineup twice, or three times tops, preferably at 95 pitches or less, and then turn it over to the bullpen. And when you push them too far, even only 110 pitches like last night...

^ JEEzus! And yet, we won't be signing talent like that any time soon. Last thing Servais wants is someone to set a precedent for this pitching staff.
