Michigan wasn't a great team in 2017. We finished 8-5 that year. And we were replacing like an entire defense from 2016.

You're using a few single games here and there to take Brown out of the top 10 but haven't spoken to the fact that guys ranked above him, especially Pruitt at #3, have a far worse track record and have produced far worse defenses.

Pruitt was the DC at FSU in 2013 and they finished #1 in defensive efficiency.
2015 UGA finished #7 in defensive efficiency.
2016 Bama finished #1 in defensive efficiency
2017 Bama finished #2 in defensive efficiency.

Finishing with the #1 defense in 2 of the last 6 seasons is pretty good, along with 2 other top 10 finishes.

So what's his excuse at Tennessee? This list has him ranked 3rd, yet his defense averaged outside the top 50 in all important measures.

They were 49th in efficiency last season. Which was a huge improvement from the season before when they finished 71st.

What's Don Browns excuse for having the 74th best defense in 2013 at BC?

Well...it's BC not Tennessee...a team that had 4 top 25 recruiting classes in the previous 4 years, two of them top 15 and one top 5 vs BC where they're probably ecstatic to pick up a 4 star recruit in any recruiting class.

At least Tennessee showed improvement in year 1 under Pruitt. BC managed to get worse in Browns first season. And that defense had 2 players on defense drafted as opposed to one from Tennessee this past season.

Again, BC vs. Tennessee. The talent level is incomparable.

First season there taking over a clusterfuck and installing entirely new schemes would have something to do with that.

Don Brown inherited this Michigan defense in 2016

Michigan 2015

Total Defense: 4th
Rushing Defense:16th
Passing Defense: 1st
Scoring Defense: 6th

Pruitt inherited this defense at Tennessee in 2018

Tennessee 2017

Total Defense: 81
Rushing Defense: 125
Passing Defense: 61
Scoring Defense: 83

Can you see the difference in which each inherited?

Yes
No

Yeah, BC actually had more talent.
More talent than a 4 year recruiting average inside the top 20 and a senior class ranked in the top 5? Don't think so.

Compare it to Brown at BC then.

Yeah that senior class that ranked in the top 5 was so talented that it produced ZERO draft picks(made a mistake earlier Gaulden was selected in 2018)

OK

Brown first year at BC 2013

Total Defense: 92
Rushing Defense: 58
Passing Defense: 107
Scoring Defense: 77

Pruitt first year at Tennessee 2018

Total Defense: 49
Rushing Defense: 52
Passing Defense: 96
Scoring Defense: 77

In their first seasons Pruitt was as good or better in every category.

This is the chicken and egg argument. Does it produce better draft picks with better coaching?

at a power five school with great recruiting in years prior.

Do you think he’ll be able to dramatically improve Tennessee’s defense this year?

Michigan 2015 (DJ Durkin)

Total Defense: 4th
Rushing Defense:16th
Passing Defense: 1st
Scoring Defense: 6th

Michigan 2016 (Don Brown)

Total Defense: 1st
Rushing Defense:15th
Passing Defense:2nd
Scoring Defense: 2nd

Michigan 2017 (Don Brown)

Total Defense: 3rd
Rushing Defense:18th
Passing Defense: 4th
Scoring Defense: 13th

Michigan 2018 (Don Brown)

Total Defense: 2nd
Rushing Defense:23rd
Passing Defense: 7th
Scoring Defense: 16th

Looks to me like Don Brown's defenses have gone backwards since he inherited DJ Durkin's defense.

No idea.

However, it's not fair to compare his first year stats (taking over a mess at Tennessee) to make your point that he should be ranked lower than Don Brown.

It shows simpleton though process.

It also shows you're just a whiny lil' baby complaining about having a DC ranked #12 and not Top 10 is all.

Well it's obvious Tennessee's defense was better last year than 2017. And nobody was drafted off that team. That leads me to believe they were coached better and were limited on talent. Also, the 5 star from their 2015 class left early and didn't play last year.

But Brown has a history beyond just Michigan. He took over a mess at BC with far less ability to recruit, far less talent on the roster and churned out a top 5 defense. Pruitt took over a bad Tennessee team and they were still pretty bad.

Explain? I suggested Brown is better than multiple people on the list. And am continuing to prove that. No goalposts or topics have shifted. Pruitt is ranked #3 without a top 40 defense because of a single game where they did OK. Brown is ranked outisde of the top 10 and behind a few guys that he's clearly better than because of a single performance against OSU. The list is a bad one.

As I stated earlier, there are multiple people listed who would be given the boot from their team or demoted if Brown wanted to come there.
