Sandy Alderson can't believe he's extending Collins, faints at presser

Immediately after announcing that New York Mets manager Terry Collins would be given a two-year extension to continue managing the team, General Manager Sandy Alderson collapsed after being circled by reporters who had initially surrounded him with the intent to ask him "why?"

A team spokesman later stated that Alderson apparently blacked out due to dehydration from the hot camera lighting, the fact that he skipped breakfast, and apparent shock that he was actually extending, not firing, the NL Pennant-winning Collins.

The 67 year old GM, who blacked out for about 30 seconds, apologized for fainting and asked for the reporters present to please continue with their questions. The reporters refused, citing concerns for his health and also stating that his passing out "sort of answers any questions we might have had."

Collins led the Mets to the World Series, I agree that he should have been extended.

I give credit to Collins for keeping everyone's heads in it, even when the Mets had no business competing for a spot he kept them going at 100%. As an x's and o's guy he can be pretty brutal. A lot of strange lineup moves (like Kelly Johnson DHing game 1 instead of having Lagares in center) and his handling of the bullpen is very iffy.

lol, every manager makes strange moves, Yost actually cut down his strange moves this season, last season we wanted him gone.

I've always liked Collins, I'm just surprised he lasted this long, and i think everyone else is, too.

Yeah, he deserves it. But I never thought he'd get this team into the playoffs.
