Dammit.

Was hoping he'd wind up on the Sens.

that no other team has...

BUFFALO, NY (May 17, 2010) – Buffalo Sabres GM Darcy Regier announced today the Sabres have agreed to terms on a one-year contract with forward Mike Grier, who was scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1.

Grier (1/5/1975, 6’1”, 225 lbs.) had 22 points (10+12) in 73 regular season games for Buffalo this season. He also contributed two goals in six playoff games, and was credited with a team-leading 33 hits.

I was going to post this, but that would of meant creating a new thread, and we all know how that story ends.

I'm waiting for the news that the Sabres re-sign Lalime.

Hey - congrats Mike Grier. I was always fond of him in his days with the Caps.

I always liked Grier not the most talented player but he always gives 100%, if a few more guy's on this team worked as hard as he does they might still be playing.

Congrats to Buffalo fans. He wasn't the highest scorer, but works his ass off every game it seems.

Always like Greir when he played here. Great PK guy, nothing but hustle. If he didn't have hands of stone I bet he would still be in San Jose. It's hard not to root for Buffalo when they have Rivet and Grier (unless you're Steve Ott).

I think of Grier as one of those players that probably won't win a game for you, but probably isn't going to lose it for you either (Sabres have a few of those).

Like others have said - good on PK and tough to get away from and tough to knock off the puck along the boards.

Players like Grier and Hecht are the kind of players you need around. You don't realize how important they are until they are not there.

We sure missed Hecht when he was out during the playoffs.

He was scoring more goals in the PO's than most of our top 6 players.

That was just an added bonus. Grier does know how to score, but it doesn't always work out for him.
