RPI/BPI/Ken Pom/Sagarin Combined Top 25

I was curious how the top 25 would look when combining all the different metrics that are used in college basketball. Needless to say I was a little surprised by some of the results.

Anyway here's the Top 25(first place votes in parenthesis)

This was done with the 3 ratings (not rankings) The problem with just using the rankings is it doesn't account for the different gaps between various teams. For instance the gap on KenPom between UK and VA is very small, but the gap between VA and Gonzaga is pretty big. Using the ranking treats them all the same.

I don't include RPI because it measures resume not team strength, and I don't include Massey or any others because the data is significantly more difficult to import.

I'm guessing Michigan's right about 65. Lunardi just updated with U-M in his "Next 4 Out." Bracket Matrix has us right on the cusp.

Notre Dame has to be towards the top in offensive efficiency. I know Michigan was #1 in the nation the last two seasons but their defense dragged them down a bit in the indexes.

I think ND is either #1 or #2 in offensive efficiency. But their defensive rating is absolutely atrocious and they are playing catchup after having a really bad non conf SOS

So there are the complete composite ratings as of today.
All data has been normalized to fall in the same range as KenPom's rating so they are all weighted equally.
"Rating" and "SoS" are both geometric means of the normalized data. (individual SoS not listed, but it's calculated the same way) But you can look to see how each team listed is rated by the three different systems and it's relative ranking is in parentheses.

If your team isn't listed, just ask and I can get you the details in a jiffy.

dc is correct about ND. Their OOC SOS was Bad.

dc already covered Notre Dame, but if you thought Maryland was rated too low today...

On the surface it looks like they should drop significantly, but since all three of the ratings had OSU rated significantly higher than Maryland already, I'm not sure a loss on the road will drop them a lot.

No problem.

It was a fun little project I put together a few years ago. It's all automated. All I do is hit a button and it queries the three respective websites, pulls the data in, sorts it, normalizes it, combines it into one sheet and formats everything for me. All I have to do is copy and paste here (and add a few tabs for formatting)

It was done in Excel with VBA.

Boy I don't agree with Wisky and the Zags above Duke and Arizona. But it's all just a ranking.

Once again, I don't know how you people "not agree" with stats. There is nothing subjective about them. Adjusted for competition, we score more points per possession than any team in the last 15 years. We have been putting up about 1.3 points every possession in B1G play. That's not some fluke.

I really don't get the negativity towards us. We have one real loss all year (I'm not counting the game where three starters including Frank missed the second-half), and our opponents had to shoot 60+% to beat us. Can somebody do it? Sure. Will it be easy? Hell no.

The combination of current ranking systems that trolly is employing is pretty good. I don't mean to pick on Wisconsin, but they don't play a style of ball I like. Let's call it the eye test....which is subjective.

Wisky's looking good this year and will go deep in the tournament. With a break or decent draw and even without either, they could very easily end up in the NC game.

I would think you need to put Duke ahead of them since they beat you at your place.

Which Zona do you speak of? The 21-0 with Brandon Ashley, or the team that finished out the season without him?

For the record, I think this Arizona team will be better come March than last year's team, but isn't quite as good at this moment compared to where they were last year up to this point.
