Rolex 24-Hours of Daytona-January 30, 2016

This week-end is the unofficial beginning of the racing season with the running of the Rolex, 24-Hours of Daytona. This race is on my bucket list. Many sub-stories afloat including the appearance of the redesigned Ford GT and the official loss of the Vipers. Don't know if they are going to run after Fiat/Chrysler Group formally pulled their support from several series after they won their class championship last year. Many other stories running as well. I'll be working but checking things out in between work shifts. This is a fun race and the 2016 racing season is here!

Scott Pruett has a chance to be the all-time leader in wins at this race as he now has five and is aiming for a sixth win. He left Ganassi Racing and is hooked up with Lexus.

Also, Lamborghini is entering the race with its Hurcan car. Should be interesting.

Looking forward to the race. Not such a big fan of the Daytona Prototypes as I am of the Euro Protos, but I love this race every year. DTM, BTCC, F1, WEC all of it is coming.

It has been raining a lot in Florida and qualifying took a beating but the results are in. Prosche takes the pole for the GTLM and GTD classes. Nissan takes the P Class and Oreca takes the PC Class. Also, BMW is bringing its new M6 GT3. Like the Lambo, what a beast.

Some surprises. Honda takes the overall win with the Tequilla-Patron, Scott Sharp team. His second win. The Vipers are running after all and last year's winning car took third in class. Ryan Hunter-Reay finished third in his class. Corvettes took one-two in the GTLM class. First NA win since 2013. Audi took GTD class. The Lambos wrecked each other early on. Man that was fun to watch. On we go.
