Story: OU targets eye Texas titles

It’s the final week of the Texas high school football season. Week No. 16 means nothing but championships are on the line.
Here is a look at the notable matchups featuring Oklahoma targets and commits during the next three days at Cowboys Stadium.

Cameron Yoe vs. Mineola, 8 p.m. Thursday
WR Aaron Sims
Haven’t heard of the name? That’s OK. Because of his size, maybe 5-foot-6, not many schools have heard of Sims. But he has been a beast on the field with 78 catches for 1,240 yards and 18 touchdowns this season.
Sims isn’t a blood brother of signee Dede Westbrook, but he might as well be as the two go back nearly 10 years at this point. Westbrook will definitely be in attendance to see if his “little brother” can bring home the championship.
Sims is going to be a preferred walk-on for the Sooners. Cameron Yoe started the season 2-4 but has won nine consecutive victories to reach this point. Cameron Yoe is definitely still home to Westbrook as he returned to the school to sign his letter of intent Wednesday.

Aledo vs. Temple, noon Saturday
WR Ryan Newsome
The only target left on the board for OU at receiver, and Newsome is looking to go out with yet another state championship.
Newsome has taken all of his official visits but a decision date hasn’t quite been announced as of today. OU brought the house to his in-home visit Sunday to close out the recruiting cycle before the dead period.
It still doesn’t feel like the Sooners are in the lead for the four-star prospect, but OU is definitely in the conversation.

Katy vs. Cedar Hill, 4 p.m. Saturday
The rubber match. Katy got the best of Cedar Hill two seasons ago. The Longhorns returned the favor last season. Both schools tweeted “same time next year?” after that game not realizing it absolutely would be.
The player to watch is OU running back commit Rodney Anderson, who has been incredible for the Tigers during this playoff run. Anderson intends to enroll early and won’t even have time to take an official visit to campus, comes with the territory of being from Katy.
Anderson has rushed for 2,511 yards on 245 attempts, averaging 10.25 yards per carry with 37 touchdowns.
