Can't say I remember ever seeing Mr Bower play, but his is certainly a prominent name from my childhood and I'll admit that I had no idea he was still alive.
RIP Johnny.
I was just looking at how many of the Toronto old timers from the early to mid 60's were still alive, quite a few. Now it's one less. He didn't know it, but for many years we put up our family Christmas Tree with HNIC in the background in those days.
Don't think I've ever been to a Leaf game where he wasn't in attendance and shown on the screen. A Leaf through-and-through. A great life to celebrate.
I still remember watching Johnny Bower crying tears of joy after the Leafs won the cup in 67. Hard to imagine that being more than 50 years ago. Loved seeing Johnny in interviews over the years. The guy always seemed to be smiling. RIP Johnny.
