It's kind of a fun hobby for those who want to speculate on who we are and where are we going. I look at it this way. If there were no intelligent life of any kind existing anywhere in the universe, matter would still exist with the galaxies doing the same thing they've done for 14 billion years. So, think about how meaningless life really is. Our reality is just an extremely small speck of space-time. Alternately, people unwilling to admit to our futility, turn illogically to religious belief as the answer.

Are you saying that hope is not logical? No matter how small you think people are, there are many who
do great things with their lives. Also there are many who make a difference in others lives as well.

That's true but it's all temporary and relative to the living around us. Before the sun burns out in 5 billion years, we'll all be goners. Next. Planet, that is.

Yeah, he should have done some movies. He wouldn't even have to act much. He looked exactly like what you would expect a baseball player to look like. I remember when he first came up and wasn't hitting yet the announcers would even make little jokes about it saying stuff like "he's hitting .220 but he is a really good guy to have in the hotel lobby"

Virtually by definition, hope diverges from rational thought. That's ok. Rationality is what makes us different than animals but that doesn't mean we have to live only according to reason and logic. Otherwise, we'd never fall in love and we'd almost definitely not watch sports.

It's called stage 4 brain cancer. He fought it for 4 years.
