This may be the first time in history that a victory over Rice was used to pimp a team, much less a conference.

I'm not pimping a victory over Rice... merely pointing out that it could be viewed as just as good, or better, than a win over Nebraska, Minnesota, Iowa, etc.

Remember... Michigan State went undefeated in the Big 10 regular season without ever facing a team ranked as highly as Rice in the BCS. People want to bash the SEC's nonconference SOS and I'm here to let you know that Michigan State beat nobody in their own damn conference even as good as Rice until this past Saturday when they took down Ohio State, a team that beat 1 ranked team all year themselves. Think about that.

Well, just in case you are keeping track at home, Rice (#33 in the BCS) is higher than all but 2 teams in the Big 10.

So where exactly does that leave the Big 10? Other than outside of the national championship game that is.

So yeah, if they were in the Big 10, they'd fall 3rd in the pecking order... but in the SEC, they'd fall 9th.

I think the reason no one is responding sakau is that no one really believes rice is better than 3/4 of the b10. Rice is a fine team im sure but they would not be favored to beat iowa, nebraska, minnesota, michigan or probably even penn st. Rankings are nice but its not a true reflection anymore than saying northern illinois is better than ole miss, miss state or uga for example

i just want the big 10 folks to know that the 7th best team was 3 touchdowns better than rice. and people actually tried to use that to point out how weak of a team aTm was... when that team they beat by 21is ranked above 9 out of 12 big 10 teams.

and lol @ thinking BCS game appearances matter. When you are in an AQ that sucks like Ohio State, the path is easy. Sometimes you run into monster teams like Michigan State though that were 0-1 against the top 26 and you just can't match up.

why would a 1 loss SEC team NOT jump a team who's resume couldn't stack up to 2008 Utah (jumped by 1 loss Florida).

auburn was the team that KO'd the 2 time defending champion.

michigan state beat a team that had beaten 1 top 20 team in 2 seasons (#19, at home).
