About 1/3 of that will go towards the rookie pool. But we can create easy space by getting rid of Chester and Porter, ($5.5 million or so). And if we can figure out extensions for Trent and Ryan, could swing another $6-8 from there. and if things get really desperate reworking the WRs could free up another $6-8 million.

So all told, we could squeeze that up to aroud $32 million and still have $35 million in cap space going into 2016 with no major moves needed next season.

So Shark, would you say that we are in relatively good shape fiscally then?

On the face of things, we look okay. However, let's say that RGIII has a breakout season (yes, a big IF) and we can't sign him to a deal before the next league year. If we have to franchise him, that'll be around $19M. We also have to take into account re-signing Alf. That will all depend on how he does this year.

Actually yes. Even if RG3 some how explodes and we end up needing to give him a real QB type deal, the moves I proposed would leave us relatively solid going forward as i dont see any one on the roster aside from the QB that would require the head banger deal next year and the numbers I have would still project us to have better than $70 million in cap space going into 2017 as well. Lets say Bob does the unimaginable and wins us a Lombardi, even at that i cant see his year one hit on a new deal being more than $10-12 million of the $40 I would have us riding in 2016 with.

Even if we have to franchise RG3, we currently have around $53 million in cap space slated for 2016. Now lets say betwen resigns, cuts and extentions, that number drops to $40 (realistically), If we have the LT and Kerrigan resigned, franchising Bob would leave us $20 million.... I think we are ok from a fiscal standpoint. I mean we couldnt do the Next Haynesworth deal... but Im ok with that.

Trying to keep my excitement level even...been so used to cap hell with the damn penalties en sech... Now we've got some solid players being added for mostly reasonable values. Gonna have to try and calm down my Skins Homer roll here. :bounce:

Excerpt:

As Keith noted in his questions, this could change with a draft trade but trades of picks for picks in the same draft don’t usually have a major effect on the cap consequences. The Redskins can figure on accounting for about $3.5 million in cap space for the draft regardless of how much wheeling and dealing Scot McCloughan may do.
