This will equate to a loss of a couple of runs over a three game series. :gaah: Put him in the 9-hole!

Dusty probably isn't even aware of this. :rolleyes2:

yep! I expect this Reds club to take care of business in St.Louis and eventually getting first and taking the division. Redlegs are coming, its just a matter of time.

GOOD NEWS: A strong month and the Cincinnati Reds are in the playoffs

BAD NEWS: A strong month and Dusty Baker is still the manager

Damn, did you hear Brennaman just then? Jay is a career .328 hitter against the Reds before that single?

Bill Hall was about a .600 hitter against the reds with the brewers. :frusty:

Jay Bruce just saved a run right there. Jose Oquendo respected that.

If nothing else, the relative ineptness of the NL, and the 2nd wildcard team eligibility, have allowed the Reds to underperform all year, and still not have to admit inability to play at a post season level. It's a situation comfortable to Dusty, who has usually crumbled under pressure.

The Cardinals have slowed considerably lately, but absolutely dominate the Reds at home. I don't have much faith in the Reds winning a one game playoff, but unless they can beat both the Cardinals and Pirates in the next month to win the division, that's where their only "opportunity" will lie.

One big difference in the Reds and Cardinals come with 2 outs. The Reds have perpetually been without enough RISP with less than 2 outs, where they hit about like the Mendoza line average if all MLB teams...and the Cardinsls seem to thrive there. It should be noted the Cards don't have any routine outs until the 8 spot in the order, something the Reds can't say. They also have a starter level bench bat in Adams, allowing them some lineup flexibility and depth, again something the Reds lack. The Cardinsls don't steal many bases, the Reds attempt even fewer, but the Cardinals run the bases better, and don't make as many mental blunders.

Dusty only knows how to win one way- if the Reds don't hit like a team of steroidal Hall of Famers, this team is in trouble,

What I like is what Brennaman is talking about right now; that the Pirates, Reds and Cards all play each other a bunch from here on out. So no one can complain at the end that they didn't have their chances.

The Reds are a complete team and I think they have what it takes to win the division if the Cards don't stay white-hot with RISP.
