He's a pale ale I called Grapefruit Diet.

Grains
8 oz. caramel/crystal malt
8 oz malted wheat
Extracts
6.6 lbs Breiss CBW Golden Light liquid
Hops
3 oz. Chinook Hops
2 oz. Cascade Hops
Yeast
Safale US-05

-Steeped grains in 2.5 gallons of water at 160F for 60 min.
-Added 6.6 lb malt extract.
-Brought pot to a boil and added 1 oz. Chinook.
-After 45 min, added 0.5 oz. Chinook and 0.5 oz. Cascade.
-After 10 min, added 0.5 oz Chinook and 0.5 oz Cascade.
-After 5 min, removed from heat and cooled to 80F.
-Brought volume to 5 gallon with mineral water in primary fermenter.
-Initial specific gravity: 1.046
-Pitched yeast.
-After one week, added 1 oz Chinook and 1 oz Cascade.
-After 10 days, transferred to secondary fermenter and removed hops.
-After 8 days, bottled. Conditioned for two weeks.
-Final specific gravity: 1.014.

ABV: 4.2%
IBUs: 66.2

okay, so i dont very often get the recipe kits anymore....but this one intrigued me

Head Scratcher India Pale Weizen

6lbs Rahr Whtie Wheat
3.5lbs Rahr Pilsner
.75lbs Briess Caramel 40L

3oz Spalt (60min)
1oz Cascade (dry hop - 2 weeks before kegging)
1oz Cascade (dry hop - 1 week before kegging)

Wyeast 3638 Bavarian Wheat

1-2 weeks primary
2-4 weeks secondary

abv ~ 4.7
IBU ~ 28.5
OG ~ 1.05

I must try this brewing thing one of these days ... always wanted to but never did

you definitely should. its very rewarding and tons of fun...and if you can follow a recipe, you can make beer

the seconds recipe im gonna try is more or less an experiment, i couldnt find anything that really caught my eye....so i just started piecing things together to form my own recipe. hopefully it comes out drinkable, lol.

Looks very light. I'd throw some other flavors in there like corriander or ginger root. You've got a pretty good base for a summer-type blonde ale, though.

I've had better results with cracked seeds (not ground, just lightly cracked) as opposed to just boiling them whole. For a five gallon batch, half an ounce is plenty.

You know, assuming you've never used corriander before. :lol:

yeah, when i use spices and such, i'm usually pretty bad about measuring...i just toss some in until i think its enough, lol...usually works out, but not the best method for recreating a recipe...although in 5 years of brewing i've only repeated a recipe once.
