Rams fleeced the Giants. What the fuck are these teams doing when trading with the Rams. Rams got roofies? Like what the hell. Miami I can kinda see working out in that scheme but these other trades are over the moon looney.

I think its a scheme thing, I'm guessing.

Chiefs were able to trade Reggie Ragland from the Bills for a similar reason.
Yeah, but Ragland was on his rookie contract so the damage was minimal even if the pick is a lot for an ILB.

To the Rams front office on all three trades
I personally think the Robert Quinn trade was terrible but thats me.

What was the story with Ogeltree? I always thought he was gonna be a stud although I know he had a pretty big injury a few years back. Rams just cutting salary at this point and staying ahead of the cap?
Ogeltree looks like Tarzan and plays like Jane.

I actually think that has a decent chance of working out in Miami. Maybe I am the lone Quinn defender left these days.
He is a really good edge rusher. Maybe has 5-6 years left in the league if he stays healthy. Probably a couple of pro bowl seasons.

Never going to be a good run defender but guys like him don't grow on trees. Maybe 2 of them a year come out in the draft.

I think most Rams fans expected a change at ILB but most of us were looking at Barron. Ogletree was extended last year and his guaranteed $10M combined roster bonus and salary for 2018 didn't look tradeable. He's a good LB who was decent as a 4-3 MLB but probably better as a 4-3 OLB. Very few 4-3 LBs are worth $10M. However, under Phillips the Rams now play 3-4 with an aggressive philosophy of rushing both OLBs much of the time. That leaves the 2 remaining LBs with a lot of tackling to be done on inside plays. Ogletree goes for the big hit way too often and that results in way too many missed tackles. He's good sideline-to-sideline and decent enough in zone coverage.

Trades in the NFL are based on how much a player is worth over and above his contract. A good player on a bad contract probably has zero value. From the Rams perspective we've traded a $7M LB with a $10M contract and gained 2 low picks. The Giants are probably trading low picks to get an $8.5M LB with a $10M contract, assuming they stay with a 4-3. It's not a great deal for them but there will be worse deals done in free agency. If you have cash and cap to burn and you need a decent LB who provides good club house leadership you could do worse than make this move.

As a Rams fan i'm surprised but happy with this trade, but it does create another hole on the roster.

Traded to New York (NYG) from Los Angeles (LA) with 2019 7th round pick for 2018 4th round pick and 2018 6th round pick
You can't spell fleecing without Eli

It's part of the NFL parity to make that division worth a shit again.

I wasn't even aware the NYG were still in the NFL. Did they play last year?

Eh seems like a fairly high cost for a fairly average player

Veteran talent to run around in that defense. Seems like a win for the Giants. No loss to the Rams though. He didn't fit.

He's fast, mediocre tackler, and has questionable instincts that are occasionally covered up by his speed and agility. I wasn't sad to see him go another team, especially at the money that he was making.
